Omega General Help / Re: Sluggish starting with 2.5TD estate
« on: 05 February 2010, 16:39:24 »
Zirk: I only drive the car! I have no idea how to measure ohms from relays I'm afraid or what kind of instrument I would need to do that, or where to start! Is there a pictoral guide somewhere for idiots like me? The only ohms I know about are by yoga practitioners.

Sethsmate: Where would I source NGK or Beru ones? My local German Car Parts is asking £60 for the 6 I need. Is it straightforwards enough for a novice to replace these?

I plan to overhaul the fuel lift pump tomorrow. I never let it go below 20 litres after the first time I did thinking I still had enough fuel to do me the last 85 miles of my journey home. That was exciting when the engine cut out in the overtaking lane of the M73.

Omega General Help / Sluggish starting with 2.5TD estate
« on: 05 February 2010, 12:30:34 »
Hello,

My 2.5TD select is beoming more and more difficult to start in these cold wet mornings. I'm letting the glow plugs heat up 3 times before turning the engine on fully and that is helping. Does this mean I should replace the glow plugs necessarily? Or could it be the fuel lift pump, although it makes no difference as to whether I have 20l+ or not? The car has only got 225k miles on it...

any hot Omega mechanics in Glasgow that you know about? There's an Arnild Clark Network Q place right round the corner from me, but they're not cheap! And I'm skint!

I don't have a/c in my beast so it shouldn't be too bad? Fingers crossed!

That certainly is the bit on ebay! Thank you! And I'll have to check the fans are working again as I assume they only come on when the engine is up to temp. I managed to free the one that was not moving but whether it is turning remains to be seen. I assume they're quite easy to get if needs be?

Omega General Help / Bumped my bumper...
« on: 12 April 2008, 19:24:51 »
I smacked the back of someone else when they started moving at a set of lights, then decided to stop. I have cracked my bumper and the screenwash bottle pump was loosened when it was driven back into a fan of some type. I took the bumper off this afternoon and there is a big metal bar type thingy which is all bent out of shape. I've tried my best to straighten it to some degree but it doesn't actually go back on properly. Can I get a replacement part? And how important is it to have both the fans in front of the radiator working? Can I get a matching bumper kit too? Sorry for all the questions. Please bear in mind I know hee-haw about cars too... It's a '98 2.5 TD S Estate, in silver.

Omega General Help / Re: Remote Locking
« on: 12 April 2008, 20:36:47 »
On my 98 TD estate, you have to switch the engine on and press the close button on the remote within 30 seconds to re-sync the key. Central locking pops up and down to tell you it's been done. I have to re-sync it on a daily basis though.  :(
