I don't know why STMO is sticking his oar in. He's older than Moses. Due to be 'taken' any moment now. :)

Crippling student loan debt won't help matters.

Not real debt because in reality you only have to pay it back when you are in work. The less you earn the less you need to pay. No job and you pay SFA. Most student loans are not paid in full.

Unlike debt on a house or car, where they generally don't care if you have a job, or not. They are quite happy to take your car and house away.

Stick the spare wheel on the boot lid like the old Rover 2000/2200/3500. :)

One of my old gaffers jumped in front of an intercity, believed to be he couldn’t handle the bullying from his gaffer

Doctors are prone to top themselves.

My Grandmother had two doctors top themselves. I suppose seeing sick people all day long isn't good for your health.

Being battered around the head ( or knocked out cold as was the case with Ricky) probably doesn't help with both physical and mental health

There was an ex-rugby player in the last week or so who has been diagnosed with something nasty. I can't quite remember his name. :-X

Lewis Moody.....I needed the assistance of Mr google. ::) ;D

Motor Neurone Disease.  A horrible way to go, poor fella. :(

Some put it down to the 'rough and tumble' of the game with plenty of heads banging together. :-\ :-\

He had mental health problems for a few years, Mick. Lots of sympathetic friends, with the means to support him if necessary, but he still couldn't see a way out.
It's just such a shame that, with the amount of people jumping on this particular health issue, it's difficult to spot the genuinely sick ones.

RIP, Ricky, you were a diamond.

Big Frank' Brrrrruuuunnnooooo' also had his fair share of demons. Well battered by the best, unfortunately for Frank. :-\

Had to press the Countryman back into service as the Yeti is playing up, bloody emission stuff. That Omega engine is sweet and sounds the mutts nuts with the straight through silencers!!

Many years ago I owned a Rover 3.5 SD1 Vitesse TP. Just before we were due to go on holiday, it blew a hole in the centre box of the exhaust and was blowing badly. We were skint back then so as a temporary measure I cut out the middle box and welded a length of oversize pipe in its place to bridge the gap. When I started the engine the burbling V8 sounded the mutts nuts with just the rear box, so I never bothered to replace the exhaust system. It even went through future MOT’s like it.  :y

The 190 BHP Vitesse lump made the V8 Rover lump quite quick. :y

It was good for around 135mph. The car was classed as years ahead of its time, but unfortunately the rust appeared years ahead of its time as well.   ::)  Door bottoms due to poor drainage and rear arches were really bad. The engine never gave me any trouble at all, providing the breathers were kept clear, otherwise they could develop crank pressure.
Mine was Moonraker Blue and had the ten function computer display with average speed, average mpg and ETA etc. on it. On a late night run down a motorway, my 240 mile journey ETA was two hours and my average mpg at that speed was …….. 6.  ;D  No, I haven’t missed a digit out, it was just 6. Jeez, did that thing like to drink.  ;D  It’s usual mpg was around 16mpg, although it was just a gimmick back then so presumably completely inaccurate.  :-\

Always had a soft spot for the SD1 with a V8 lump of Detroit under the bonnet. :y

In 2025 it's hard to believe how badly many cars were thrown together in the seventies and eighties. :-\

........so for cars registered with a shiny new '75' plate.

And here lies the problem, 'Registered', EV's, not 'sold' EV's:)
Autotrader is full of 'New' second hand EV's with around 10 miles on the clock at a reduced price. It appears to be a car manufacturers/dealers trick to reduce the amount of fines for the lack of EV's sold compared to petrol and diesel vehicles.  :-\

Yep.... You make a good point. Which is why I was able to buy Mrs Opti a milk float with a 60% discount.  :)

I also reckon there could be some good deals on the last of the derv cars......if they want to shift them.

That's a serious amount of discount.  :y  This situation has put car manufacturers in an impossible position, and one they can't possibly keep up.

HSE model. With the options fitted around £84,000 list down to mid-high thirties including £195 for road tax.

Roughly the same as a pretty basic Kia or Chinkchariot. :)

........so for cars registered with a shiny new '75' plate.

Quite surprised by these figures when compared with September 2024.

Petrol.....141,308. ............Up 2.4%
Electric...72,779................Up 29.1%
Hybrids..47,883............... Up 3.5%
Plug in hybrids....38,308....Up 56.4%
Derv....12609...................Down 28.2%

I was expecting petrol to outsell milk floats by 10-1 and not 2-1.

Also, look at the number of sales for Hybrids and Plug in Hybrids. Does the £3750 government grant apply to these as well as 'full milk float' electric cars?.

Paid a local outfit £30 to wash and valet the milk float ahead of our trip to Heathrow tomorrow. Absolute bargain in my book, it took three of them 35mins to get it looking as good as when BMW dropped it off.  :y

Illegals? ::)
