Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 DTI Y22DTH Help Please

Ummm thanks for that I better pop in for a change next time I'm passing.

It's strange I can get the filter and oil changed in one of the national drive in's for less than I can buy the bits using Mobil 1 fully synthetic.

Thanks for that omegaman2 good tip.  Also I like the idea of being able to forget about the timing chain, I was looking at the front of the engine thinking what a pain it would be to change.

Re oil change, GM recommend every 20K and I am just coming up on 10K since last change with 50K on the clock and its not used a drop of oil in that time  :y

Its a pain that Haynes don't do a book yet but when I spoke to them a few  weeks ago they said that they had had several requests and were thinking of doing one.

Does any one know if this engine is in the data tool discs.

Omega General Help / 2.2 DTI Y22DTH Help Please
« on: 09 May 2008, 23:43:06 »
Bought this one is Oct 07 on a 52 plate.  Took it is the QuickFit and had oil and filter changed at 40K using Mobil 1 Syn.

Prior to this diesel I has a 2.0L 16V N reg petrol for about 5 years, during which time the cam belt went once and bent all the inlet valves, anyway took the head off and fixed that lot so I know a bit about engines. Before that I had two Carltons and have changed most bits over the years.

But this is my first diesel which I like :-)

Cant get a Hayes for this model so I have a couple of questions....

Where is the oil filter (picture would be great)
Where is the fuel filter (picture would be great)

Does the Y22DTH have a timing belt or chain and when should it be changed 49K on the clock now and is it as easy as a belt on the petrol's

Omega General Help / Re: Blown head gasket?

Sounds like the gasket's gone, its probably gone a bit like puff pastry where its failed and as it moves a bit power will pick up again.  Its not a hard job to do yourself if you are that way inclined.  I would suggest changing the timing belt and water pump at the same time especially if you are going to keep the car for a while <200 for all the bits and the odd tools that you will need.
