Thanks everyone

i'm, going to give it a go later - batteries flat now  :(

Just so you know the problem last year was that it would run fine for a while and as soon as the engine seemed to get warm it just cut out and wouldn't start again until cooler!!

I dont beleave the cam sensor is at fault.

What are the fault codes?

Well, it was a local garage and didn't give me fault codes. I'm going to take it to the local VX guys I know and they're going to do a proper check.  :(

Read the fault codes yourself....there is info on this site telling you how to do this and its very easy.

Then report back on your findings

I would suspect a 19!

Didn't even know you could do that. I'll have a searach round - would save me some money.

 :)

Hey guys

I've an MV6 W reg that I've had for a 18 Months - facelift model, not the new shape. Its been off the road for 6 months as I've not needed it. Turns out that the cam sensors need to be replaced and a few other bits n bobs. My question is, is it worth sorting out.

The engine itself is A1, the car is perfect, clean and normally runs perfectly. Funds are limited and not sure what my options should be.

Not sure what this is worth mending or selling for bits?

Cheers

Bear

Okey, just had the proposed bill for Crank & cam sensor and a new heater valve - £390 inl labour - thought was a tad steep.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks guys - garage did tests and it's the crankshaft sensor - apparently though both the rocker and head gasket are shot - is that potentially true? If so, I only do 3-4 miles/day would I need to change them urgently?

Thanks again

Omega General Help / Help Please - MV6 cut out
« on: 12 May 2008, 16:52:23 »
Hey everyone - first post so please bear with me.

My MV6 (2000) has just stopped. The engine just cut out, had AA out, and after a while it started only to cut out again just down the road. Seems to be fine when cold but a nightmare when hot. Some observations.

Engine runs hot
Eats coolent
Drips oil but not loads
'coolent level' warning always on - if full or not
Had it 6 months, fine until now.
Alway run the fuel low - 10 miles to go - Could that be bad?

If anyone can help it would be so appreciated.

Thanks

i gather this hasnt run for about 18 months...

whats the general condition of the car?

paintwork, rust, wheels?

It's not run since about October last year. The car inside is perfect - spotless. The outside could do with a bit of a touch up but nothing major. Wheels OK - not amazing but are fine. Boot is spotless. It really is a good car that with some TLC would do someone proud. Last time I started it, after at least three months doing nothing it fired up first time.

Hey Guys

I did post a few months ago about my MV6 - auto - I haven't got acces to the for sales forum so asked if I could post here. I hope this is Ok. Just got married and been told to get rid. It's either the scrap yard which I don't want to do or let it go to an enthusiast.

So, its a 2000 MV6. Navy blue. Not used for about 9 months. Just at on the drive. Reason not used is because one of the sensors went a bit weird and couldn't afford to repair. 106k. I've owned for almost two years. It has full service history. 1 owner before me. Abolutely every receipt from new and complete, documented service history. 6 CD multichanger too.

Two flat tires, flat battery, no MOT, No Tax so I suspect if anyone wants it you will need to pop it on a tow truck or something.

When I ran the car it was perfect. Everything worked fine. Had a slight oil leak and some water was coming out but it did me well.

It just seems a shame to let it go to scrap when I'm sure one of you guys could do so much with it.

Pics to come soon.

Open to any offers and have a few weeks to get sorted. I live in Nantwich, Cheshire.
