Installed the CK-100 today in place of the CARK-91 that I fitted about 8 years ago. I originally used an Autoleads cable to attach the CARK-91 control box to the pre-wiring in the passenger footwell. Using  a 6 pin to 4 pin adaptor (INKA-025-9908 £7.04 incl VAT and postage from mobiland.co.uk) I was able to convert the original Autolead cable to fit the PCU-4 power cable socket in the CK-100 control unit. The Autolead cable takes the audio from the speaker output jack without the need to use the 24 pin control unit ISO cable at all. I used the  same Nokia microphone as originally fitted for the CARK-91 positioned by the sunroof control panel.

I also purchased a Brodit phone holder for the Nokia E63 which comes with a power cable holder. As the CK-100 also comes with a 2mm power cable (which fits recent Nokia handsets) I was able to feed this through to the holder to provide power to the E63 whilst the ignition is on. The phone holder fitted onto the original mounting bracket to the side of the aircon/radio panel.

The control button for the CK-100 was fitted just below the MID using the self adhesive velcro pads supplied. The two screws  holding the aircon panel in place behind the ashtray were removed along with the headunit and cubby hole to the left which allowed enough movement in the panel to feed the ribbon wire around the edge of the panel and directing the connector down to the footwell.

All in all very happy with the install. The E63 has automatic voice tagging for all address book entries which can be 'dialled' by voice by depressing the control button for two seconds. Likewise incoming calls can be answered by pressing the button with volume contrllable by rotating the button. Connection is automatic to a paired phone once the ignition is switched on. Audio quality is excelent in car and for callers I am told is better than the CARK-91.

Thanks guys. I decided on the basis of the comments to purchase the Nokia CK-100 in the end. This is £80 from Play.com (and 100% compatible with the phone). I have also purchased a Brodit ProClip phone holder with the charge cable holder. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

No mention of compatability with the E63 on the Nokia website (other E series phones are mentioned) so bit of a quandary as to whether or not to go for this.

Thanks TB

So does this mean I need to replace the control box but otherwise all wiring other than the power cable and controller remains the same? Does the power cable connector come with he kit? If so I assume I can cut the old one off the Autoleads connector and remake the connections?

Wife has finally succumbed to swapping her existing antique phone for a Nokia E63. Main reason for not doing so before was the CARK-91 hands free kit in the car. So I now need to find and fit a suitable Bluetooth kit to replace it. As a facelift the car has the basic wiring pre-fitted but can anyone recommend a good kit to fit please. I have been looking at Parrot but there may be others as good or better. Don't need anything too fancy as it will be used relatively infrequently but I want sound to go through the head unit (as currently) and mute the radio. I assume I will need a new connection lead too? Has anyone generated a 'how to' guide for this?

Omega General Help / Vx Trade Club?

Not had to buy many parts recently from Vx, but suspect the steering idler needs replacing again. Could anyone advise how much they are please? Is it available on trade club? Also need some more oil, are they still doing the 'buy three get one free' deal on trade club for the 10W40 semi-synthetic? Only paid £27 for the four in 2008 but would appreciate knowing how much are now please if anyone can help? Thanks

Omega General Help / No cold air
« on: 10 April 2010, 20:44:07 »
First warm day of the year and notice there is no cold air blowing from the vents. Having checked the compressor, I found it is not engaging even when the climate is turned on. I have checked the fuses in the cabin and they both seem OK, I have also checked for refrigerant by removing the dust cover near the bulkhead and making a brief press on the valve - still some pressure there. Apart from putting 12V across the connector and listening for the clutch to engage on the compressor is there anything else I should check? If it is the compressor I assume it is a complete pig and will cost a fortune?

One alternative and potentially more cost effective approach would be to fit Lemforder wishbones or bushes. I understand that Lemforder are the OEM for Vauxhall/Opel for these parts. The difference is that I paid £60 a piece (incl VAT) in March '98 from AutoVaux. More expensive than a pattern part from Buy parts By, but a third of the Vx price even with TC iirc. You pay your money and take your chance but half the price and 6 months life strikes me as a poor value for money in anyones book. The Lemforder online catalogue is here http://www.zf-trading.co.uk/uk_lem_en

For your '98 car ?
oops. Living in the past I'm afraid. Should have read (20)08. Sorry.  :-[. I still maintain the same sentiment though.

Omega General Help / Re: No Speedo or Rev Counter

Thanks. Don't believe it is the ABS ECU. I did this a year or so ago and it did not take out the Rev Counter out when it failed. The ABS + TC lights were on permanently as well.

Thanks Toby. Does anyone know what the stealers and breakers want for them and how easy they are to get out?

Omega General Help / No Speedo or Rev Counter
« on: 30 July 2009, 20:53:41 »
Not had any problems for a while but tonight the speedo and rev counter have stopped working. All the warning lights, the temp gauge and fuel gauge are still working. The rev counter is vibrating a few degrees either side of zero whenever the ignition is switched on and it continues for a few seconds after it is switched off. I've checked Fuse 12 and it is is OK. Neither the dash or the dials have been disturbed and I have tried pushing the dial assembly to no avail.
Any ideas please?
