Omega General Help / Low Idle speed MV6
« on: 06 October 2010, 10:58:05 »
Help please. Engine is 'lumpy' at tick over and when I am driving slowly.

My Idle speed is only 500/600rpm.

What does the throttle valve switch on the throttle body do?

I did a pedal trick test but I can't find the list of fault codes. I am sure I have seen it on here somewhere.
Can anyone direct me.

And lastly,  could it be the airflow meter? It seems to be a bit worse in damp conditions.

Too many questions! Sorry boys!

Omega General Help / HEATER MATRIX SMELL
« on: 10 September 2010, 14:28:44 »
Good afternoon all,

Can any body please tell me if it is possible to have a smelly heater matrix without having a water leak.

I have looked at the sneaky matrix replacement routine and I have the matrix ready to install but my mates are telling me that it cannot be kicking out a smell if I am not losing water. My header tank level is dead steady.
Can a better brain please give me advise.

Terry.

Thanks for that. I have done a few miles today with it unplugged and she's a lot smoother.

John,
I've unplugged the airflow meter and it seems to be better. I am going for a longer run to be sure.

So what will happen to the mixture with this rinkydink disconnected?

Sorry . I had forgotten about that. I don't know how to do it but it is on here somewhere. I will type in 'fault codes' and see what happens.

Omega General Help / 3.2 Missing at low revs
« on: 26 May 2010, 13:26:31 »
I've got a 3.21 MV6 estate. Could someone please advise regarding missing at low revs, (anything below 2000rpm) in any gear.
When I put my foot down it seems fine. I have changed the spark plugs and I am thinking of changing
the air flow meter but they are not cheap. Do air flow meters  play up?
Advice would be appreciated. - Thanks  Terry

Omega General Help / Oil Light

Nadolig Llawen from West Wales. Merry Christmas.

Can someone please tell me what is the oil capacity of a V6 ?  Have just checked my luvly MV6 and there was no oil showing on the stick. She has just gulped about three quarters of a gallon.

Yes. I know I'm a prat for letting it get so low but I haven't ignored a warning light. -  The light works when the ignition is switched on. I am just a bit worried that I might have done some lasting damage .

Omega General Help / Delco radio code
« on: 01 June 2009, 17:03:00 »
Evenin' all. Have fitted four tyres and an exhaust system and its like having a new car. By Gaud, It doesn't 'alf go!

My plod MV6 has a naff radio. I have got hold of a Delco 'proper' radio. I need to get the code and I've read somewhere on here that all the web sites offering this service are scammers.

Can somebody please recommend a genuine code provider?

Also. I do not have a Delco book so will someone please tell me how to install the code. i.e if the first number is '4' , do you press button no 1 four times and then move to button no 2?

Help would be appreciated

Many Thanks

Omega General Help / Should it stay or should it go?
« on: 21 May 2009, 19:47:42 »
Evenin' all.
I only require the wisdom of Soloman.
I have an ex plod Mv6 3.2 Estate that has done 144K. I have not had it long and have been using it as a work horse. My main car, a Passat, has just gone Kapput and I would like to bring my Omega up to scratch to use it all the time. I have a vibration at 90mph and I think it is the tyres, but it might be the suspension. (It has just passed an MOT though).Assuming it needs four new tyres, can anybody recommend a good reasonably priced tyre? Michelins are recommended but I can't afford those! It also needs a new exhaust system and a new clutch isn't far away.

I could end up spending £800 on a car worth £1100. I am happy to take a long term view but I am worried about head gaskets. Do they go? And if so, at what sort of mileage.

Sorry that this is like an Agony Aunt Letter. I want to enjoy the car working well but I don't want to piss money away. I have a FSH and the timing belt was done at 121000.

Should it stay or should it go? Advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Terry
