Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Brake light (High) and aerial

Neither seem to be working, the radio signal is very weak and as a result only one signal is strong enough to show the station name on.

How do I go about fixing this?

My car is a tourer

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: no heating or blowers
« on: 06 February 2009, 09:53:05 »
If it is blowing but no cold or if it takes an age to heat up when the engine is hot, it could be an airlock in the heater matrix due to a possible leak of coolant somewhere, can you hear any gurgling when going along?

Had this on an old car, cured when I flushed the system fully

Have you checked the pressure, wear on inner and outer often occurs with underinflation, hope it is that simple for you

Agree with above make sure you have some coolant in there too or the water is likely to just boil and solve nothing. You may have a faulty hose, or a partial block in the rad somewhere. Often with small leaks you see no water as it is evaporated due to heat. You may get white water marks though

From someone whos owned 3 omegas, take a look at the endless faults and problems on here, and buy an
AUDI !

Go to the TTOC Forum (audi TT) you would think the car struggles to get off the drive each day, plus OE parts cost the earth

Omega General Help / Re: sound from ... ????

Have a look at the fluid it is usually red in colour (or has been on other autos that I've changed it on, can someone confirm that on the Omega?) which can end up almost black, if it is black then defo needs changing.

Auto transmission fluid, change it and I think that should cure your problem.  Sounds like the clunk is down to the box from what you describe.

Did you flush, top up or turkey baste your system??

Have you had the brakes done recently, I got vibration once but only at speed from a semi seized caliper piston.

Oil done, with a flush for good measure.  Wire put on the pad so I'm not driven insane by the warning signal.

The noise the mechanic said is down to gasket manifold

And lastly, wheel alignment/tracking, are there any special requirements for the car?

Thanks

Omega General Help / A few questions
« on: 26 August 2008, 13:35:23 »
I did warn it would not be long before I started asking loads of questions, so here goes:

I went to the Epsom masterfit to get some part numbers and prices, not that I'd buy from them generally, I just wanted ball park figures so that I know what I should be paying.

Without asking year of model of my car I was told to get 10 40 oil for it, when I went to Halfrauds I just had a look at their guide (not that it is ever normally right) and that said 15 40 oil, so which is it I got 10 40 and will be putting it in later today unless someone advises otherwise.

The oil looked quite clean when I bought the car but I thought I'd change it to be sure, also hoping it will cure or help ID the tapping noise I get on startup for the first mile of driving or so!!! It happens whether the engine is hot or cold and then goes, not the head as I've checked that, it increases in speed with rpm, any ideas/cures, I thought it sounds tappetty (piston slap??) does not effect performance at all.

Any help would be appreciated along with an idiots guide to fixing

Car is P plate 3.0 V6 tourer full dealer history 86k on the clock

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Aircon Recharge?
« on: 25 August 2008, 07:55:31 »
I've used this company a few times, they are really good.  If there is a leak in your system he can put in a sealant that worked a treat in my old soarer and it's much cheaper than part replacement.

http://www.ac4cars.co.uk/

I would highly recommend them

He's mobile too, does the full vacuum and recharge, dye also if suspected leaks, I wouldn't touch kwikfit personally
