Omega General Help / Re: PROBLEM WITH ENGINE
« on: 25 August 2008, 19:03:32 »
Hi , does not sound like your head gasket has gone .
Sounds like an air leak somewhere .
Check your vaccum pipes for splits , look in maintence guides / page 6 / v6 engine bay vaccum pipes , too find where they all go .

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum :)

Its a pity you didn't find the forum earlier, we could have saved you £650 on the oil cooler problem ;)

Hi , my name is paul & i own a 1999 ( s ) omega 3.0 elite saloon and have had it for 4 years . I owned a granada 2.9 cosworth before this car & was on the granada owners forum website . It was a good upgrade to this car , my only regrets come when something needs fixing , it's never easy & never cheap .
About 6 weeks ago i checked the coolant bottle and said " oooohh this does not look right " it was brown with a few bubbles in it , i took it to the vauxhall dealer they said it was the seals on the oil cooler and quoted me £480 , i pick up the car and they said it was a nightmare and said it's £800 . Yes i still pull a face like sucking a lemon when aproaching the car , then the climate control starts giving me problems & i want to do some kung fu on the car but instead i join this forum for some help . Is there a counseling section or just take 2 paracetamals when things turn bad....he he he .
Hoping there is a genius out there to help out with advice and maybe 4 years of ownership i could get a word in now & again .
