Omega General Help / Re: BMW ZF GS6-53DZ
« on: 05 March 2026, 20:26:31 »
Today I have inspected the box. It's the "weak" gs6 37dz used in 4 pot diesels. This one came from a 320d e90. Good price 200€. Length up to the flange is 600mm.

Hi all, I have been searching with no results...any idea if a 6 speed conversion with a box fron a 525/530d bimmer has been done to an x25dt Omega?
Early M57 are suposed to have same bellhousing bolt pattern as M51 (aka x25dt) and should be a bolt on (quite more less)

I have been patient and never bought those B2 seats...local scrapyard obtained a B1 mfl with exactly the same trim as mine!
Now I have a matching folding front seat and I have also bought the rear bench cushion, modified by slicing about 2" for a flat cargo area when folding the rear ones.

Now I found much pleasant driving without trigger/pull-up lever.
When driving in 5th I must now remember that "R" stands for "reverse" and not for "racing top gear"

Unfortunately I cannot check the diff since it is not in my city. It will be purchased from a reputable breaker with warranty.

I don't have an ex police car. Was just curious about what had different the police stick.
I'm currently building my own box/armrest and a longer lever for the gearbox will be perfect. I may try to take the whole stick out and replace it with a simple stick with no reverse trigger.

My reverse trigger works ok, but is slightly painful since the plastic is broken and I have to pull directly over the aluminium.
I have discovered that 1996 MY on the gear lever was made 1" shorter for better access to the radio. Maybe police spec maintained the longer one?
