Omega General Help / Auto box 'gear lever'
« on: 03 December 2006, 21:05:11 »
Not sure if thats what you call it! but the lever on my 3.0 has a lot of movement when in any position. In other words it goes in to 'gear' fine, drives fine, but if for example it is in drive I can move the lever back and forward at least half and inch.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Hi, your pics look the same as mine although I do have radio controls on the steering wheel.

Good luck with the search

Could copy word for word what John said earlier in the day. Ex plod 2001 MV6. 92k looks and drives great just the usual mess with the insides. Bought the car as a work horse for the next few months as I spend 6 months here and 6 months in Spain but now I realise how good/cheap they are I may buy a few more and sell them on

Anyway Hi again, oh and cards behind the bar so be quick it wont stay there long  ;)

Cheers Bob, just for an additional comparison really, also as I thought my premium was pretty good (regardless of customer service!) and wasnt sure if anyone else used them

I'm sure that there have been loads of thread re this but who do you insure with. Quinn direct have cherged me £162 per year TPFT for the 3.0 mv6, thats 5 years no claims and 40 yrs old with a devon post code but with my missus as a named driver and she is 32 and a spanish national with an EEC licence.

Was pretty pleased with the price but recieved a letter today after 7 weeks to say that they havent recieved a hard copy of my no claims (6 weeks after it was sent!!) and will cancel my policy unless I pay an aditional £300  >:(

Now Ive got to get a new hard copy from my old insurance company (from 18 months ago as we have been living in Spain) and send it off again.

I suppose the moral is cheap price but poor customer service!!

Anyone else use them, or got anyone with better prices? a mate might be interesetd in the 3.2 that I brought and wants comparable insurance prices

Cheers

im just after a static site, which basically lists stuff with some images etc.. nothing too flash as its an information site.

My girlfriend runs an internet business and built and maintains her own site, however I have just started a small clothing site with an off the shelf package that she bought me (I'm a dunce when it comes to most things pc related). It was MR SITE and it costs about £35 and that includes a years hosting and sounds like all that you would need.

Have a look and see what you think http://www.mrsite.co.uk/

Good luck

Keep the 3.2 - no question, did you see the Y reg ex plod one just gone on fleabay for £1600ish? I was seriously tempted  :)

yeh I saw it. I dont think he will have been to happy with that price. His cars are also ex met police and I bookmarked his sales over the last 7 weeks since I bought my 3.0 and he has sold 4 in that time all 2001 cars on y plates. He sold a 3.0 with 98k for £2250 (this was the same reg as mine just 1 number different!) a 3.2 with 76k for £2050 another 3.0 with 92k for £1750 and the last 3.2 for only £1600.

So basically he sold the highest mileage 3.0 for the most money and the lowest milegae 3.2 for the least!!!, but I guess thats ebay for you.

General Discussion Area / 2MV6's, which do I keep?
« on: 15 November 2006, 11:02:41 »
Hi all, newbie here.

Brought an ex plod 3.0 MV6 estate about 7 weeks ago and having now driven over 2000 miles in it I can honestly say its the best value for money car that I have had.

Having raved about it to my best mate we agreed that he would come with me to buy himself a car as he is curently ownly using his van or his misses little VW polo. He wanted a manual saloon and had a set budget. However on the night he coudnt make it so I went along on my own. Unfortunately there were no saloons but a very clean looking 3.2 MV6 estate on a y plate with 79k. so yep your guessed it, I bought it.

Well he doesnt want it so I am going to have to sell it. Or do I keep it and sell my 3.0.

The pros are the 3.0 I have taxed, insured and have run for over 2000 miles, the cons are that it has a very slight oil leak that I think is from the cam cover gaskets and has done 94k and although very good condition has a few slight marks.

The 3.2, I have only driven about 80 miles but drives like new, the condition is almost A1 (outside!)it has less miles and an extra 200cc!!, the cons are that I would have to, insure it and tax etc.

So waht do you think, best just to keep what I've got and sell the 3.2??
