Omega General Help / Re: Hi
« on: 14 July 2010, 20:29:14 »
I thought it could be the dis pack as the misfire started VERY suddenly. It started fine, ran for about 10 mins without issue, and then started missing. There is a strong spark on the other leads and nothing at all on this one. It could just be the lead, and I will be replacing these first just to check, but the dis pack will fail eventually so I figured it could be worth sorting while the car is off the road anyway...
Thanks for your reply. :)

Omega General Help / Hi
« on: 14 July 2010, 20:05:14 »
Hi all. I have a 1999 (pre-facelift) 2.5 V6 saloon which has recently started to misfire on the cylinder nearest the windscreen (drivers side). On further inspection I have found that there isn't a spark from this lead at all. The car was running fine and all of a sudden started to misfire (no intermittent problems like you normally get with a failing lead).
This makes me think that it may be the coil pack/Dis pack that has failed.
Does anyone know the correct one to choose from the THREE available. The one on my car is fitted horizontally and all other plugs/connectors on the engine appear to have oval plugs.
I am planning to buy a new dis pack, plugs and leads and to relocate the pack somewhere more accessible, possibly the void next to the pollen filter as there is an access panel in the scuttle panel at this point, making future lead changes a doddle...  ;)
Any help with the correct coil pack number would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Marc.

Omega General Help / Srange misfire on 2.5 V6 - HELP!!
« on: 11 January 2009, 13:36:09 »
HELP!! I have a 1995 Omega with a 2.5 V6 and manual gearbox, which has run well since April 2008 when I bought it, but now it has decided to start playing the weird misfire game!!
Fine when cold, starts 1st time and goes onto "choke". While engine is operating "on choke" there is NO MISFIRE at all regardless of engine speed/load. As soon as the engine warms up and comes off choke the misfire starts. Seems to be one or maybe two cylinders, still goes well but sounds rough and when idling I can feel the off-balance firing through the car!!!
It's not using lots more fuel or making any strange noises, and ive had NO FAULT codes even when it is obviously missing.

I will be changing the plugs and leads as a matter of course but don't really want to do the dis-pack coz it looks like a pig of a job!!
I would have thought if it was a lead/plug the misfire would be there all the time, so would I be right in thinking the next thing to change would be the dis-pack?
Any help here would be much appreciated!!

Also, can the breather pipes be cleaned thoroughly WITHOUT removing the engine? If so, how?

I have been asked why I don't just sell my Omega and get something else, simple that one, it's quick enough, comfortable, handles well, has all the toys I need, returns decent fuel economy and looks much nicer than most 14 year old cars!! Oh yeah, and it only cost £400!! :)

Cheers in advance for any help.  :y
