Welung666: Havent had chance yet to disconnect the sounder, that is being done first thing 2mrow morning.

In the mean time its been doing it again tonight and its getting worse, the method of 'Lock the drivers door by reaching round from the rear door then shut the rear door = no alarm!'

Doesnt work im afraid I did this several times and the alarm still seems to go off :(

Any more ideas for tonight? I dont want to disconnect the battery as wouldnt that then reset most of the car?

Thank god! I think if it were to carry on overnight I'd have several neighbors forming an angry mob at the door!

Thanks Welung666  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm Woes :(
« on: 17 December 2008, 19:37:59 »
Hey all (apologies for all the topics)

This started this morning, when driving the car home from work.

Whilst driving down the road, the alarm will start going off! Nothing I seemed to try and press whilst driving fixed it, but about 30 seconds later it just switches off and stops sounding. This happened 2 or 3 times on the way home.

When I was home I locked the car as normal, but since then the alarm has gone off quite a few times, literally for no reason at all. And at random times throughout the day.

Firstly any idea whats wrong?

and secondly is there ANY way that I can lock the car without the alarm system being activated at all? (I checked the manual it didnt mention it, the only thing it said was about switching off the passenger monitoring, I tried this but no luck)

:D

Some sort of cock up when quoting my post? Try re-editing your post and seeing theres no excess in there

Well its off the road for the mo, but really need it back ASAP.

Also really no idea what happened above!

7
Yeah Il get the cambelt checked looked at ASAP.

8
Mileage has been about 18-20k since then, no engine lights warning lights nothing.

Will try taking the 'fan belt' off and see what that does.

Hmmm doesnt help that Im not that mechanical :(

9
Its a 3 litre V6.

Belt and tensioners were done in 06.

Thing is it still starts up fine, so if the belt had gone surely it wouldnt even do that?

Omega General Help / Engine Issues, not entirely sure what though!
« on: 25 January 2009, 21:17:25 »
Hey all,

Basically had to get the Omega recovered on a flat bed last week :(

Drove down to a site in the morning, completly fine no problems what so ever.

As I leave the sight in the evening, there was a strange noise, to start with it sounded like a TDCi/Transit was really close behind me (I could hear that diesel clatter)

At a roundabout I then realised it could be me, so blipped the throttle and indeed something didnt sound right.

So pulled over in a nearby layby, and lifted the hood, it sounds like something inside the engine has come loose and is rattling round :(

Also doesnt sound like a V6 should?

Any ideas? The AA couldnt really say what it was, but didnt advise I drive it anywhere, and arranged for a low loader to pick me up.

Strange thing is theres no engine lights/warning lights what so ever on the dash, it hasnt gone through any oil or water, and there has been no knocking/noises previously.

Omega General Help / Re: Wheel Wobble . . .
« on: 10 January 2009, 17:26:33 »
Thanks all :)

Headley tyres usually gets all my business as there brilliant for that sort of thing.

Tyre wise there all fine, when I got it alligned they carried a check on all of them, and they were fine.

They didnt mention anything about balancing though . . . . .

Hmmm will pop down to Headley tyres and get them balanced.

If one of the wheels is buckled, how much are we sort of talking about for another one?

Also approx price for the balancing?

Pitchfork, Where abouts are you? As Im from Ashford Hill, but as a rule Newbury is the closest place people have heard of!

Omega General Help / Wheel Wobble . . .
« on: 08 January 2009, 22:55:08 »
The MV6 has been pulling to the left quite a bit recently, so today got it 4 wheel laser aligned.

Turned out it was out by a fair bit, so after that drove it home, and it was much better, still pulling slightly to the left but that was a dodgy tyre, the front 2 are now the same.

Heres where it gets interesting,

0-30mph fine, no wobble/pull etc.

38-50 ish ALOT of wheel wobble/movement, if I take my hands off the wheel you can see it wobbling/shaking quite a bit.

55-60+ its completly fine again no probs what so ever.

Im presuming by the fact that the alighnments been checked/tyres etc, that it could be brake or suspension related?

On a recent trip to MK and back managed to get the 3.0 up to 34.6mpg! I was quite happy with that!

Omega General Help / A few more probs
« on: 10 January 2009, 17:32:50 »
When I got the MV6 aligned, on the way back I kept getting the low level/check lights type warning.

So had a quick look and the lead had come off on the N/S lower shock part.

Trouble is, when trying to clip it back into place, it doesnt really go in as such.

Il push it back on, but it seems to keep coming off.

I dont wanna force it, as I fear the plastic clip may break, any other fixes?

Also the N/S headlight washer seems to have gone :( well more specifically the nossle part. When I hit the screenwash all that seems to be left is the circular plastic tube.

How much/where could I get a replacment?

Cheers all :)

Thanks all :)

I'll get about getting the part, and attempting this myself.
