Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Bl**dy alarm
« on: 16 January 2009, 15:47:19 »
I had several nights of being woken up by the alarm - made me really popular with the neighbours. Eventually found that it was a fly that had taken up residence. 1 can of fly killer and problem solved.

Omega General Help / Re: Help please - bonnet stuck

Thanks guys for your help. Got the current Mrs.Grottblatt to pull on the remains of the release lever, while I gently bounced my 20st. on the bonnet and hey presto - it popped open.

So I've adjusted it and greased it and fingers crossed . . .

Anyone got a grille for a 2002 facelift?   ;D ;D ;D

Omega General Help / Help please - bonnet stuck
« on: 26 March 2009, 11:23:13 »
Went to open the bonnet this morning and it steadfastly refuses to budge. I have managed (with considerable brute force and an awful lot of ignorance) to rive the release handle and its bracket off the car. Oh, and I now need a new grille 'cos the crowbar slightly broke the current one, but no amount of tugging, levering or swearing is moving it. Before I break out the angle grinder and do some serious harm,  does anyone have any ideas, please?   >:( :( :-?

Omega General Help / Re: Cambelt kit choices with markings
« on: 26 March 2009, 11:30:15 »
I recently changed my belt and it had no markings, because they are not necessary with the kit that was supplied. This has a replacement bottom idler, which is no longer adjustable and so the markings are superfluous. I wrote up my method but have not posted it, but I am quite happy to pm you if you want.

Don't know enough about the alarm to help, but my 52 plate version will close the sunroof and windows if I hold the lock button down for a few seconds.

OK now I'm worried. Is Autovaux OK or have I just made a big mistake? Does the wear sensor (is there one each side?) have to be changed or can it be salvaged if you're very careful?

Aylesbury, where the ducks come from - just placed my order with Autovaux - £77 for two front discs and a set of pads and £7-50 for delivery! Should (hopefully) be here tomorrow then I can get to it. I did check the price of a setup from EBC Direct but that was just under the ton  :o

Omega General Help / Trade club and brake change
« on: 03 March 2009, 12:21:07 »
Hello all,

I have seen references to "trade club" in various posts. What is this please?

I need to change front brake discs and pads on my 2002 2.6 CDX, does anyone have any advice please, other than that in the forum technical guides.

I agree with SP_3.2. I regularly get the light on, but after a good long (~100+ miles) it goes out. It has done this since I bought it but has always passed its MOT test without any problems.

Omega General Help / Re: Timing belt confusion

Thank you all for your help - much appreciated. I only hope I can return the favour some time. I have just finished cleaning the throttles and reassembling the plenum so tomorrow I'll have another go at the belt and report back.

Omega General Help / Timing belt confusion
« on: 27 February 2009, 14:59:50 »
Needing to change the timing belt on my 2.6 CDX, I purchased a kit from my dealer and the OOF DVD, which should be required viewing for anyone who has never done this before (imvho). All went well until iI came to fit the new belt, when I found that apart from the part number/ barcode etc there were no other markings on it. So has the design changed or did I get sold the wrong thing? The (main) dealer insists that belts are not marked anyway, despite me holding an old one with faintly visible markings! In researching this job I came across phrases like ". . . imperative to align the marks correctly . . " and ". . . serious engine damage can result . . . ." So was all the original advice unnecessary or is this a magic belt? Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln , was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln , was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

It gets better . . . .

Lincoln was shot at the theatre named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theatre and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theatre.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And the icing on the cake . . . .

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
