Omega General Help / Help with fault codes, PLEASE!!!
« on: 28 July 2009, 22:53:54 »
Hi, I was driving home earlier this evening when the engine management light came on, this is the first time its happened and I was a bit surprised as I hadn't noticed any problems with the mig.

Its a 2.0ltr on an S plate, I did the paper clip test and I'm getting the following numbers - 10 3 2 5!

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I was just looking on the maintenance guide on how to unblock breather jets, but I can't view the pictures! Is this just me?

Omega General Help / Re: Major Oil leak

Ok it was me who got it wrong! Its the main rear oil seal and rocker seal!

If the clutch needs doing as well it could cost around £600 :'(

Thanks Closeau!

I took it to a garage yesterday and they got it on the ramp. Not good news, the camshaft seal has gone as has the rocker cover seal, so oil is pouring down the back of the engine. They've quoted me £160 - £200 to fix, do you think its worth getting the clutch replaced whilst they have the gear box off?

Anyone?

Omega General Help / Major Oil leak

Hi Guys,

I bought a 98 2ltr 16vGLS back in December with only 75000 on the clock for £600. At the time I thought I had got a bargain cause the garage wanted £900 but since then I've topped it up with nearly 3ltr of oil.

I've looked underneath and noticed that the bottom end is covered in oil from above the sump seal and is dripping oil after every journey. The weird thing is that there is also oil further back underneath the car, is this just air pushing it back that way when i've been driving it?

Any ideas? I just hope its not going to be expensive!!

I'll try and take some pics!

Cheers, Daz.  :-[

Omega General Help / Re: bonnet not opening
« on: 18 February 2009, 13:24:43 »
Mine did this the other week! I got the wife to pull the lever whilst I pushed on the bonnet. Once I'd got it open I covered the mechnism in copper grease and hey presto its been fine ever since!!! Sounds like you will need to adjust the cable first though, as others have said! :)

Hi all,

I'm new on here. I used to have a 2.5 v6 cd until I blew the engine, I'm now on the look out for a 2.5TD estate pre-face lift, so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. These are truely great cars!!!
