Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: bose speakers, amp and loom.
« on: 11 January 2011, 18:56:05 »
Got to be honest. I have an elite estate and a and mV6 estate, one has bose, one doesn't. Whats the difference, not a lot really and for all the work a decent aftermarket head and speakers will sound good if not better than the bose. Its a lot of work for not a lot of gain. Infact the biggest problem with the omega is the positioning of the speakers, the door speakers are generally covered by legs, and the rear door speakers are also cover by leg!

In my old carlton estate it fitted a decent Pioneer head unit, some extra tweeters in the roof lining and some decent 2 ways in the doors. There werent any speakers in the doors, theyre in the bootlid which is actually better as they act as a natural sub. Pissed all over the bose system and didnt need tech two.

Mine has been doing this for the last year or so - only tends to be on acceleration, 2-4000 region, usually after cold start. Does not seem to be related to any other issue, so have just left it until I need to get to the instruments for other reasons

Same as mine then, something else that irritates the hell out of me!

The rev counter on my MV6 sticks occasionally, is this just something these cars do by nature or is it the rev counter itself?

Thanks Rob but i think il take a hammer to this one instead and fit an aftermarket one with a built in digital radio. These ones obviously arn't built to last.

It ejects ok now, although prior to its spitting its dummy out it wouldnt eject so i just left it, then after about an hour it came out of its own accord and hasnt worked since. Im not playing copies, there all brand new CD's. It wont jump/change to another CD.

Im comtemplating dissconnecting/reconnecting the battery to try and reset it?

The CD player in my MV6 wont play CD's anymore. Its the CDR 6000 with the 4 disc changer, it just says 'Check CD4' all the time. Its really irritating.

Omega General Help / Re: Senator AR35 onto and omega
« on: 25 January 2011, 19:24:42 »
So vauxhall put was already a weak gearbox in the 2.5 into the the 2.6 and expected it to last! The old AR25 could barely cope with the old 2.0 ohc engine!

The more i work on omegas the more vauxhall infuriate me, pency pinching everywhere on what essentially is a superb car built on the cheap, the reason i need to change the box is because of the Thrust washer issue which i beleive mine has!

I might just pull the engine out and stick a 12v straight six in it!

Im sure this has been asked before but are there any major differences between the AR35 on my senator and the AR28 on the MV6? I need to do the thrust washer but while im there i may aswell fit a re-built AR35 that ive had kicking around.

Omega General Help / Re: Using Wynns hydraulic lifter treatment
« on: 25 January 2011, 19:42:42 »
ive used wyns a few times and never found it to be any good. Ive heard a capful of auto transmission fluid is good for lifters but ive never tried it. It think ud be best to change the oil every 500 miles or so and see if the problem dissapears.
