had the same problem with my 2.2 petrol auto,changed the camshaft sensor and all has been well since.
Take this piece of advice ,only fit a genuine sensor i know they are a bit pricey but they work .
Also gearbox problems,the selector on the side of the gearbox corrodes internally so it is not sure which gear its in,cleaning won't fix it.
