Thanks for the update. Not sure how many LC rear xmembers and diffs are up for grabs but I will start looking.

Luckily I'm using a tremec T5 gearbox. Now the LC diff is an interesting idea. When you say it "fits" the omega do you mean the diff fits in the omega housing or the entire LC diff housing fits in an omega rear sub frame? All in all this sounds like the emergence of a plan!

already got both a standard and an LSD but I doubt either is even close to being strong enough for twin turbo V8 lump, hence trying to identify the true model of the diff center units to try and find an aftermarket unit to replace it with. Come on folks, someone must know where GM got em from!

Omega General Help / Omega Diffs

I am trying to find out what diffs are fitted in Omegas with a view to getting a much higher rated LSD equivalent. It seems that the Holden versions had a BTR (borg warner) 78 series and the US Catera had a Dana model 80 diff which is described in a few places as basically a borg warner but made in america. If the UK ones have a borg warner 78 series then a quaife QDH3M or QDH4M should be a direct replacement. Anyone got any inside information as to who made the Omega diffs and what they are? Mr Google seems to have a lot of contradictory information.

Currently building a V8 omega so thought I'd drop in and say hello.

Pics here http://195.224.74.74/

Its a TVR AJP8 with 2 turbos, still a couple of months from first start up but it's going well.
Now for the reason I'm here, anyone know if a mono wiper setup exists for the Omega. Otherwise I'm going to have to get creative with the original mechanism as it's too near my rear intakes and will make the manifold fabrication into a right PITA.

TVR AJP8 fits nicely, even room for a couple of turbos, intercollers and a T5 box.

It would have been easier without the big silly Omega steering box and you will need to the body kit to hide the rads, oil coolers and secondary water coolers if you use air/water intercoolers like I have but it's do-able and since the engines are over 400BHP before the turbos you can probably make 750-800BHP. No idea if the diff will take it as we are only half finished but time will tell.

Go for it with a V8 anyway, these big cars need some grunt, they can handle a lot more than vauxhall ever gave them.
