How do you access the aerial, is it the roof lining out?

Am I correct that the bee sting aerial on the roof of an estate is for the phone and the rear window (tailgate) has the radio antenna?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: xenon (HID) bulb replacement

Well, 3 hours later both bulbs replaced, what a pig of a job!  Found it easier to remove both headlights than fart about in the limited space behind them.  Just out on interest what's the labour time to do this at Vx dealer?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / xenon (HID) bulb replacement
« on: 27 January 2010, 22:40:36 »
So, nearside bulb looking very pink and going to replace both this weekend.  Can someone confirm proceedure - 1. disconnect battery (ign on then off - remove neg' terminal within 15 secs. remove battery - 2. wait 15 minutes for ballast pack to discharge.  3. Replace bulbs - 4. reconnect battery Anything else I have missed?
Quite worried about the fatal shock statements on the bulb box - handbook etc...  Sorry to sound a bit like an idiot, but still learning about these cars!

Omega General Help / Re: Bleeding Brakes
« on: 26 February 2011, 22:37:37 »
Actually, I need to replace all the fluid as it looks terribly dark and I don't know the last time it was changed. So is the procedure for replacing all the fluid the same?

I read somewhere that when bleeding the brakes you must have Tech 2 attached so that it could modulate the ABS sysytem, avoiding spongey brakes.  Is this correct, or can you just do it the conventional way? What is the sequence for bleeding, i.e N/S/R first etc..?

Omega General Help / Power steering / Rust preventer
« on: 30 October 2010, 10:59:19 »
Bit of pointing in the right direction needed:

1. Small leak of PAS fluid, this is very small drip and hardly any reduction in fluid level, but drips onto driveway and my wife not too impressed.  Have tried to look for obvious leaks on hoses but without ramp access to look at underside it's tricky.  Is there a common point where I may get this from, hoses seals etc?
2. Can anyone recommend a good rust preventer? Checked n/s scuttle drain which was blocked (!) and there is a small bit of rust on the bulkhead behind pollen filter, want to stop this getting any worse so was going to apply rust preventer, and then over paint - any recommendations?

Omega General Help / Brake Pads
« on: 04 February 2010, 22:54:56 »
What options do I have for pads fr/rr on a 3.2 Estate Auto, car is a 'special' i.e. ex cop.  I did see some Vx genuine uprated pads, think they were described as Heavy Duty on e-bay some time ago. Would you need to cane the car to get any heat into these? I am sure these was a list of part numbers with applications on here once?

yeah Andy, had the cambelt and tensioners changed, plus waterpump.  But looking at front of engine top left small pulley is still original, should that have been changed as well?
