Omega General Help / omega 2.6 v6 auto, tc light
« on: 01 January 2011, 15:04:57 »
A very happy new year to all,  was driving the omega yesterday and all of a sudden when i moved off a traffic light the auto box refused to go into 2nd gear and the rev went up to 4 and there was a jerk, the tc light came on and the car sort of went into limp mode. Oh and the light on the gearbox went off too.
Any ideas as to what this means?
thank you

Omega General Help / Re: thinking of getting a 2.0auto lpg mig
« on: 12 June 2009, 00:42:07 »
i competely agree that its underpowered, i drove it for a bit and then i went back to my 2.6 and felt i was in a ferrari or something!. but my brother drives a 1.4 civic and the omega 2.0 definately feels that it has better power with the economy. as for the lpg, its not the factory system. its an after market system fitted by some approved installer, what issues can i look for out for?
thanks!

Omega General Help / thinking of getting a 2.0auto lpg mig
« on: 12 June 2009, 00:21:15 »
hey!, ive come across a 2.0 auto lpg facelift w reg mig. i already have the 2.6 auto lpg and iam really happy with it, so iam thinking of getting the 2.0 for my brother who presently drives a civic on a t reg and wants to get rid of it. anything in particular i need to look out for on the 2.0 migs?. Car starts up fine drives fine, engine sounds way different compared to my 2.6 but i guess since its a smaller engine. it changes gears fine too. there is no service history but the oil and all looks fine.

Omega General Help / star gas lpg system software
« on: 28 May 2009, 14:03:21 »
hey, just wanted to find out if anyone here would know anything about the star gas lpg system. i have one fitted to my omega v6 auto, and its badly in need of a re-tune. to do that i need the software cd and the leads. As the system wasnt fitted by the previous owner i dont have the software or the leads. would anyone have it here or know where i could purchase it from?
any help would be appreciated!
thanks!

DTI does have a history of failing fuel pumps. ive seen about 3 in the past having the same issues.

i drive a similar v6 on lpg/petrol and i average around the same. Firstly because lpg burns faster so mpg drops quite a bit even though u still save money. having driven a few  few lpg cars in the past ive noticed that after conversion and running daily on lpg they start averaging similar on petrol as well. Have you changed your petrol fuel filter? people tend to avoid this and forget about it specially when the car is a lpg one.

i did ask the mechanic if there was a way of checking the state of solenoids through a diagnostic check and i was told no. I was thinking id be a good idea to just give it a service and see how it goes because ive been quoted quite a fat price for solenoids. And no, the 4000rpm shift problem happens quite a few times whether its hot or cold!!

ps. thats fine abt the handling! no problems there, its the gearbox!

Omega General Help / 2.6 autobox problem
« on: 29 April 2009, 16:41:29 »
good afternoon everyone, just been noticing a problem with my 2.6 auto box. i guess its been there a while but its relly noticable now. sometimes the box will shift perfectly, there are times when it shifts the 1st 2nd and then clonks into 3rd, sometimes it refuses to shift out of 1st unless i get it upto 4000revs. Spoken to my local mechanic who reckons i need new solenoids filter and fluid. is that about right? Also my gear stick shakes quite a bit while driving. i reckon thats the gearbox mounting. could that also be causing the erratic chaning? any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Omega General Help / correct oil for my v6
« on: 13 April 2009, 16:47:52 »
Iam  going to do an oil change on the omega 2.6 v6 auto tommorow. Was just wondering which is the best oil to use for it, i tend to do a lot of city and motorway driving and the car is lpg converted. I read at quite a few places that castrol edge ow30 is supposed to be good or the magnetic 10w40. i cant be sure. Any help would be appreciated

Omega General Help / Re: omega 2.6 cooling fan doesnt go off
« on: 21 March 2009, 20:24:26 »
the aircon is off so is the whole temp unit, and whenver it is on its always on eco. still the fan runs!, the moment i put my key and start the ignition the fan kicks in, if it doesnt kick in then it kicks in exactly 5 mins later, iam still guesing it mite be a faulty switch or a stuck thermostat though iam not sure!
