Omega General Help / help - LPG - length of injection hose?
« on: 27 June 2009, 19:29:14 »
Can anyone tell me whether the pipes from the injectors to the nozzles on the manifold on an LPG kit should all be the same length. My instructions are silent on this. Will

Omega General Help / LPG and rpm sensor help please
« on: 11 June 2009, 07:47:22 »
Hi,

I am now fairly well advanced on the lpg conversion to my car. However the wiring diagram has a connection to the 'coil', which I assume is to pick up rpm data. As my car has two ominously complex looking coil packs each mounted on the plugs with mass spaghetti wiring to each I am unsure of where to connect, or whether to try to connect into the rev counter sensor instead.

Can anyone answer on how they have done this please?

Regards, Will  :(

Thanks, that's very helpful. What drill size did you use for the injectors? Mine is a 2.6l V6, Regards, Will

Does anyone have photos of how they laid out their engine bay for LPG conversion stuff in a V6 Omega, and photos of injector drilling please?

Thanks for the pictures and advice. Combined with my son's recent experience of installing lpg on his m30 beemer, I reckon there is a good chance of success. Will

Yes I am using the red 3 ohm injectors.

All other tips will be welcome, especially on unravelling the wiring and using the set-up software

Thanks for the replies so far. The system I am going to be using is from Motogas with Autogaz ECU and Valtek rails.

Omega General Help / Help - what size LPG injectors?
« on: 29 January 2009, 13:19:31 »
I need to decide on what size to drill the LPG injectors at the rail outlets for my fully sequential kit on a 2.6 auto Omega. Received wisdom so far is to start at 2.3mm based on 1bar gas pressure. Any knowledge out there? :-?

Omega General Help / When the gear box boils!
« on: 29 January 2009, 10:16:13 »
This may be useful to someone. When my Omega 2.5 auto gearbox threw a wobbly and failed to engage in top gear (and did offer a warning which I duly ignored), it overheated, the oil boiled out of the breather over the exhaust and tried to set the car on fire on the M25. I was alerted by the thick fog in the rear view mirror. I stopped, hopped out, ran round to the verge and looked underneath to see flames and oil everywhere. For a millisecond my brain told me to blow it out!. Anyway I assumed I shouldn't drive it on was recovered by the AA.

At home I was a bit surprised that the drive still engaged. My brother in law then said he thought that many 'recon' gearboxes have only had the internal filter and oil replaced. So we did that insitu on a borrowed garage ramp. Hey presto, smooth as ever and no further problems in the following 60,000 miles until I sold the car. This is despite regular towing of my sailing dinghy.

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi just bought another Omega and joined forum
« on: 29 January 2009, 10:07:38 »
Hi I have just parted with an old friend, my 1999 cdx, which I bought at one years old and added 200k miles since. It still ran well but was looking a little grazed in places. Found it straight forward to work on, except for changing the coil pack, which was painful on the fingers and knuckles. Oh and changing the alternator - what a pain to get onto the bolts!

In exchange I now have a 53 plate 2.6cdx with just 49k on the clock, so plenty of life in it. I have also bought a fully sequential LPG kit, so will be busy.
