Thanks for that Charlie.

As for what make the fob is, I can't make it out.  I took it apart to see if there were any markings and on the body of the key there is this code...
PA6 GP40 TPC.PC
Does this make and sense?  Anyone know if it might be the correct one?

Thanks.

It is the 3 button type but I can't make the model out as it has worn off.

How would I know if it the correct fob?

I've been looking at a few auto locksmiths that advertise key coding, would you recommend trying one of them or going to a stealership?

Cheers.

By the way, I'm about 50 miles south of Newcastle, just on the border of North Yorkshire.

Clould that be a bad sign that the siren has been disconnected?

Maybe I should just look towards an aftermarket alarm/CL system.  What are Vauxhall dealers like generally, I haven't had much experience?

Thanks for the fast reply.

No, non of the buttons have any opperation so locking has to be done manually.

I live in the north east in a place called Marske By Sea if anyone can recommend a decent technican.

Ants.

Hi there.

I'm new to the forum and have just bought a 2000 facelift 2.5 V6 Elite.

Car is great although I have an anoying fault.  I have searched the forum and found a few similar issues but nothing exactly the same.  Anyway, as the title suggests, my key fob doesn't work correctly.  The buttons don't actually do anything although the LED does light up.  To get in I manually open the door with the key and the harzards flash as if the alarm is going off but there is no sound.  As soon as I turn the ignition on, the hazards lights stop and the car can be started.

I have tried a few of the fixes I found on the forum ie. key in position one and pressing the lock button to no avail.  I have tried every orrientation, key in position one, two, lock button, unlock button.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Should be getting it polished up next week so I'll get some pics up.

Antony.

Hello everyone.

I've just bought a 2000 W Elite V6 2.5 and am planning on doing a fair bit of work to it.  The history is patchy so my first port of call is the cam belt.  Just ordered the DVD.  Gave it a good clean out for the first time today and bought some new mats.  It has been used as a motorway cruiser for the past 6 months and hasn't been cleaned in that time either.

It has covered 125k miles but drives really well.  The forum has already been a lot of help with some key fob issues I've had but they should hopefully be getting sorted next week.

Cheers,

Antony.
