Thanks Philrich. I did manage to get the motor out, but found that there must be something that sits in the bottom of the arm that grips the cog on the servo motor - probably fallen down into the depths of the car!. Despite pulling the centre console out as much as possible, I couldn't find where the top of the arm locates into either. I think I'm resigned to having cold air on the driver side for the rest of the winter!

Hi - with heat only to passenger side, have identified the arm has come off the back of the servo motor in the driver side footwell. Have then managed to pull the arm off the attachment above the motor.

Nothing damaged, but can't for the life of me see how to get it back on. Can anyone help?

Help!

Found the motor, and lo and behold, the arm was loose behind the motor. Couldn't for the life of me see how it would reconnect, and in fiddling around with it, I managed of course to pull it off wherever it connects above the motor.

Is this now garage time??... or, if I unscrew the motor, will it be possible for me to reattach it at both ends? (Nothing appears to be damaged or worn either top or bottom).

Apologies - car is an Omega 2.016V Ecotec (W reg) and its the driver side heating via the vents that is U/S

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Driver-side heater not working...
« on: 01 October 2010, 18:18:04 »
Hi,

The aircon is working fine, but the temperature control only has an effect on the passenger side. I only get cold air out the right.

Are there two separate heaters in the system?...and is there a fuse that controls the right one only? (have checked fuses but can't see a problem).

If it's not a fuse, I presume it's an expensive problem?

Omega General Help / Poor low beam
« on: 01 April 2009, 18:40:00 »
The low beam on my Omega 2.2 Ecotec has to be one of the worst I've seen on a car. Round my local Kent country roads, even with the lamps set on the highest setting, it just doesn't illuminate far enough ahead. If there are no cats eyes it's a real pain...

Have checked all fuses etc. Is this just that the standard lights aren't up to the job?

Omega General Help / Re: Climate controls confusion

Still can't get the Auto light to extinguish except when I revert to manual controls. Switching the Eco button on/off has no effect on the Auto light. How can I get out of this mode?

Can anyone advise what "Auto" does that using the temperature selection knobs doesn't?

Auto is on the whole time - pressing the associated button does nothing except reset the fan speed to a medium setting each time. How do I turn Auto off?

Omega General Help / Re: Bonnet release cable.
« on: 16 March 2009, 18:25:07 »
Do you mean the handle end? - or the end at the bonnet?

I believe the handle just fits between two plastic supports - and then the cable slots into the handle with a typical nipple set up. My bonnet catch was virtually inoperative and I pulled the handle off its moorings but it slotted back in OK. Couldn't work out how to improve its operation - seemed no way to get at the bonnet end since its all enclosed in that front metal cowling...

Omega General Help / Re: Cleaning the breather jet
« on: 02 March 2009, 20:35:57 »
Thanks for responses. I meant that if I can't even work out how to remove the crankshaft sensor when changing the rocker gaskets, then I don't stand much chance dismantling the breather jet and associated banjo joint etc!

The car is idling perfectly and hopefully the gasket change will sort the oil leak / oil submersing plugs issue. I'm just worried that there was only just perceptible suction from the breather pipe and this is suggested as a prelude to further rocker gasket problems...

Sorry - it's the 2.0 GLS Ecotec...

Omega General Help / Cleaning the breather jet

First - thanks to Grumpy for his excellent how to guide....

Having spent some 3 hours yesterday renewing the rocker gasket (how do you get that crankshaft sensor off?? - saw a vertical tab but pressing it in or out didn't help get it off - had to leave it in place)...I'm a bit nervous about the cleaning the breather jet attached to the smaller breather pipe from the rocker cover.

If I squirt a load of carb cleaner down the pipe - won't this accomplish 75% of the job and hopefully free up the jet? (there was a very very small amount of suction when revving the engine). I'm just worried about access to this jet with my ham fingers - especially if I can't even get the crankshaft sensor off!

Omega General Help / Oil covering top of spark plugs...
« on: 21 February 2009, 13:12:43 »
Hi - car is running fine, but thought I'd change the plugs on my Omega 2.0 GLS...

Plugs and caps were totally immersed in oil (could explain slight leakage from underbody).

Is this camshaft gaskets? - if so, is it easy to sort out?

...and what's it likely to cost at my local repair shop?

Thanks.
