Yes you'll need the adapters for the speakers.
How much did you pay for the ones you got?I was thinking about the same ones but never heard them in action.
And actually the speakers don't need to be at least double the power of the amp.
Minimum recomendation was actually 30% more than the amplifier, but of course little more than this is preffered. Don't be mistaken we are talking about RMS power not that marketing crap called maximum power which is in fact just usseles marketing trick.

I've just baught some 6.5 inch Infinity componenets (Kappa 60.7cs) for the front doors of my facelift mig. They should be here in the next couple of days. I'll let you know how I get on with them. ...Dave, will I need the Corsa adapters for these?

  OO yeah, great idea! ...Hmm; maybe I could get some with huge magnets, leave em on, and just cut a hole right through the door panel and have them sticking outside? ...Of course, I'd need to fit a rubber seal around the hole to keep the weather out! I wonder if Alpine do speakers with coil magnets in Nocturno Blue to match the paintwork?

Thanks for that Kevin. Yes, its a facelift. Hmm. From what you say it sounds like there isn't a great deal of improvement in the sound quality? ...I also thought of just installing a pair of coaxial speakers and disconnecting the installed tweeters but I cant imagine the sound stage being improved very much by that either. ....Hmmm Maybe I'd be best just leaving it as it is?

Just a couple more questions: Will most 6.5 inch component sets (Mid and seperate tweeter) be ok just wired straight in, using my present aftermarket head unit? ...It's a sony 4x50w with Ipod connector. I also have an aftermarket rear amp driving a single sub in the back. Other question is: What is the max depth/coil dia speaker I can use in the doors without mods (drilling, spacers etc)? Any data, ideas/recommendations? Thanks.

Thanks for that. OK so I look for 6.5 inch speakers then. I may go for a component set and fit new tweeter and xover as well. years ago I used to have a Vauxhall Carlton. That had much better quality speakers than this miggy does??!! I wonder why they downgraded the standard installations? What are the door cards like to remove and re-fit?

Sorry if I missed it somewhere else on the forum, but I can't seem to find any reference to the size of the front door speakers on the facelift models. I've seen a couple of places where the rear door speakers are mentioned as being 5.25" but nothing specific about the front ones. I want to replace my standard speakers at the front with aftermarkets. I have an aftermarket head unit and a sub in the back that I transfered from my old car but the front speakers just don't match up to the rest of the system. I need a better quality mid-range sound to balance it out. Also any recommendations would be welcome.

OK thanks. Sound advice. I've cancelled tonight's gig. I was due to have the cam belt changed in Sept anyway (Pete and Daz), so I might as well bring the whole job forward and get it all done at once. Just trying to contact them now. Thanks again. Better safe than sorry.

Hi. Thanks for yur reply. The pump hasn't failed as such yet. The engine temp is normal and all is working. It's just that a noise (rattle) has developed that is coming from the the pulley/bearing and it is obviously suffering and therefore needs replacing. I was just wondering what would happen if I risk the journey today and it failed whilst I was travelling, what other damage would ensue? - If it did fail I would obviously stop driving the minute it failed and get it towed in.

What damage can be caused if the water pump completely fails whilst travelling? I have a loud rattle from the pulley and obviously need to get it fixed but meanwhile I need to run the car today. If the pump completely fails whilst running would this do any other damage, or would I just have to get it towed in and repaired? Thanks. I've been trying to organise a hire car but this is awful short notice. I need to go at 5:30 this afternoon. (about a 150 mile round trip).

Looked under the bonnet today with the engine running and I noticed there is a rattle coming from one of the pulleys. It sounds like a dry bearing sort of rattle. I don't think this has been happening long, I certainly haven't noticed it before when I've had the bonnet up with engine running. My guess is that the water pump is the cheif suspect. Is this true? (I'm not a mechanic). Any ideas? Is it OK to drive until I cen get it seen to next week possibly? Any advice greatfully received.

Can only tell you that mine doesn't do that - revs never increase during changing - the needle just drops down as the box goes up the gears.

Maybe try a fluid and filters change to see if that improves things....

 

Just re-read this and maybe I should clarify: My needle just drops down as the box goes up the gears as well. That seems OK; it's only when the box is changing down (e.g. when going up hills) that this phenomenon occurs. Instead of going straight from (say 1900 revs to (say) 2500 revs, it momentarily goes up to 3000 then settles (in the lower gear) at about 2500-2600. No other probs. Actually, I think you are right in that I should check the gear box oil and maybe do a change anyway. I've read on here that many of the commonest minor autobox problems are just down to the oil. Is this normal? ...I'm cruising along in third or fourth; I come to a hill so I increase the throttle a little; and as expected, the car shifts down a gear ...but (and this is the point): in the course of changing down, just for a second the revs go up to (typically) 3000, then immediately settle to about 2500 and stabilise. It only lasts about a second. Could this be the start of a slipping clutch, or is it the way they are supposed to behave? Apart from this I have no issues with gear changes. Torque seems OK up motorway inclines with no unexpected slips in top gear.

Cheers Belldarr. Yea maybe it's due for a change of oil and filter. Never checked it yet. I'm due to see Loo Knee and Pete in the near future so maybe if one of them has the time, I could get em to drive it for me and see what they think. They good guys! They changed my cam covers and cleaned the breather and also Sorted another, finnicky oil leak for me recently.
