Omega General Help / Engine code 135 Help.... Pleeeease
« on: 24 March 2009, 17:25:50 »
Hi guys

I know mine is high miles and this is yet another problem BUT.
I was traveling up the M5 at the weekend and I was running a little late. So I went a bit faster than normal. Now.... @ 100mph the engine management light flashed on at me so I slowed down to 90mph and it went out.
I have done an error code readout with the paper clip test and I have a code 135 ->Telltale Checklight) voltage low. Can anyone shed some light on this please as I don't understand what this means.

Thanks

Baz :-/

No not sure what you mean. I'm a bit new to the omega's!
The box was changed before I bought the car but there was a receipt saying removed from 199? mv6 with 7*,*** miles on the clock.

Hi Sorry Blonde moment....

Last letter is W.

But still wondering if the gear box change will make a difference?

6
Hi TB

The last digit of the VIN is 2 but it begins with W.
As the gear box was a replacement from an MV6 would this make a difference?

Excellent. Cheers for that I'll be there but will only be for the day.
as I got a little baby who doesn't like sleeping never mind camping.

Mine is a 1998 R reg if that helps.

That would be great. Could you possibly gimme the details of the meet as I don't know where or exactly when?

Thanks

It has an apparently common problem.

I found in the wet and especially around hilly roads It gets confused, throws a fit and then can't decide what gear it wants to be between 3rd/4th/OD It was recommended by a fellow member that a possible Gearbox ECU flash may be required and there are a few people here that are able

cheers

I have been told that the ecu for the gear box can be re-flashed. Is there anyone anywhere close by that can help with this please as it is really becoming a pain in A*s.

I was reading throught he Bodge It Book and apparently (according to Haynes) you either have to take the head off or the engine out. I don't believe this to be so as it seems on most of them there is enough spcae (JUST) to get in there and do it.

I need to do it on mine too so any ideas would be useful to me too....

Right I have tried the disconnecting the MAF and the engine didn't drop revs it died. Will start with it disconnected but the idle rate is even lower (about 400 rpm NO JOKE) but is idling more even.

I am confused. Does this indicate the need for a new MAF?????

Idle speed should be 600rpm. Tacho needle should sit on first line of gauge.

Do not be tempted to adjust throttle valve stop if it's running too slow.

Your ignition problem is the most likely cause of low or rough idling. Expect to find plug wells full of oil :(

Tranny could benefit from software update. Downshifting on light throttle was an issue on earlier models. There's a clever few on here who can update gearbox ECU software

Great thanks for that BUT. I'm struggling to understand where this has any reflection on the error/fault codes that have appeared.

Nice one

I will have a look at mine later tonight and see what happens.
Thanks for that. I'm always open for suggestions.

Cheers again.

Thanks for that.

I understand that build up is normal especially for the mileage. (Not a problem)
I was concerned about the gearbox mainly because the previous owner had the gearbox changed. Now I have done alot of work on cars but never to that extent so I don't know exactly what this entails, hence I was getting the advice first.

Thanks again
