Hi jimbo, Didn't realise it was you who started the other thread (DUH!)  ::)
When you get your pioneer unit up and running will you report back as to how well the adaptors and the HU fit. As I am looking for a HU for my omega, but I don't won't to spend the money and realise i could have bought better for the price.

Thanks in Advance  :y

Thought you were coming over today so we could try to actuate multirams with Tech2  :-/

I didn't have more than 15 mins to play with it today, but I'm convinced I've got a good vaccum there - I think there's an electronic problem with actuating it....

Hopefully we can get together sometime very soon :y

If you are sure that there is a good vaccum to it then there can only be one other thing wrong with it and that is (as you say) the electronics actuating it.

This would be the only thing left surely?

The way I see it is, you either have no vacum to the rear multiram or that the 12V that actuates the solenoid is not present.
Have you tried to see if there is a strong enough vacum present to the rear multiram?

I would have a bash myself but I do not want to be working under the car on our driveway, as it is horrible. By the way I take it that the autobox in the 3.0l is the AR35 as I have seen references to an AR30?

Many thanks Karl.

I have now had a good luck underneath and it is definatley not leaking from the sumps, so I assume that a seal has gone somewhere up at the front end of it,
had a few quotes for fixing it cheapest is at 250 pounds but I can get a used box that has 31,000 miles on it of a 3.0l for 275 pounds and then whatever fitting would be on top.

This is not going to be a good month!!  :'(

Hmm I'm not sure now, the fluid definatley appears to be dripping from the bellhousing joint to the TC.  :'(   Would it be leaking in a different place if it were the sumps?

Omega General Help / Autobox leak?
« on: 12 August 2007, 19:54:04 »
Hi all,

Went for a drive to preston and back and got a few miles from home when the autobox went in check mode and I had to manually shift through the box, now I have had this happen before and topping up the ATF fluid appeared to cure.
So I thought I would have a check underneath the car, got ia all jacked up level and then noticed there were a few red drips of what appeared to be ATF fluid on the torx bolts attached to the bottom of the bellhousing. I assume that there is a seal(s) between the autobox and the torque converter so I am thinking on of these has failed? Would this be right?

I also found out this weekend that the garage that looked at my suspension geometery has left the passenger side hub loose!!! This had been causing a rumbling going round corners so I decided to investigate and found it loose, which I find totally unbelieveable.

What a weekend Karl

I hope that the RAC will be paying for the amount when it goes into the dealers? I see no reason why you should have to pay for there mistake  :y

Remember FWD have to be rock solid to get any traction. RWD can be much softer, and still have same (actually much better!) cornering ability.

Omega also has dual rate springs for more comforatble ride, so there is an element of softness initially.

Stick with it a bit ;)

I have been with the car for a few months now, not to fussed about it now i have seen a 2000 (W) Elite 3.0 V6 for £2000 with a FSH!
Was driven by BAE for Chauffeuring people back and forth from the airports.

KYB do make some excellent stuff, i have run their gas struts on modified cars i have built in the past and feel that the are underrated.

I'm surprised about the 'soft' suspension comment, my experience of the omega is that it is very well composed through the corners and that the suspension gives a good amount of feedback as well as to what's happening.

I suppose it goes back to what you are used to.

I was used to driving a vectra 1.8 LS so it may be that I am still not used to the car, but there is in my opinion far to much body roll.
Is the police suspension different to the ordinary standard suspension?
I am just wondering if the previous owner had the shocks/springs replaced with the incorrect ones?

Cheers Karl

I realise now that i may have to, if i want to improve the setup I already have, given what has been said above about the police suspension being better than the standard setup.

Any ideas appreciated

why would you want to change to a standard set up? the old bill suspension is much better and still comfortable. you should drive a standard one first, i think that you will be disapointed
i can may be able to get the part numbers if you want to get the originals

rob

The police suspension setup imo seems to have a far "softer" feel which causes the car to have a serious amount of body roll when cornering (but not going excessively fast!). it just doesn't seem the correct setup for the car.

I have found the following on buypartsby:

KYB Excel-G shockd front and back for £52 each for the fronts and £15 each for the rears and also Lesjofors Lowering Spring Kit for £78. The lowering kit reduces the ride height by 40mm.
Does this seem right and are they any good??

Cheers Karl
