I just had similar problem, and it was faulty dis pack.
(although, first I had also one faulty ht lead)

There's some pictures of the switch cluster, push those metal clips carefully with a screwdriver.

I had exactly same problem, and reason was faulty "red/green switch".
I fixed it myself, with a piece of electrical tape inside the switch...

My door strap also ripped totally out of the door, but the plastic bush was still like a brand new.

And when I checked my (old) door strap, I noticed it has two metallic "rollers", which were not aligned with the rod anymore, because their holes were very worn.

So I THINK this is the reason why my door strap ripped off.

Hopefully some of you understands my bad english. ::)

About 13 inches of snow here. :D
