Now I've realised that the crank sensor was only replaced 10 months ago.... is it likely it could go again so soon ?

Wouldn't mind giving it a go but where I have to park there's no way I can do repairs so I might have to get it done....  if I did I guess I'm looking at at least an hour's labour then, if it takes 15 mins. ?  :y

Ah - thanks both.  I'd assumed that would show up a fault code, but I guess not ?   Any idea what sort of damage to my wallet that might create ?  I've previously used Mastertec in Romford who have done good work for me, but I've just  into London and might need to go more local.... just looking for an idea of a reasonable price for the job.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Turns over but no spark
« on: 22 March 2009, 17:05:58 »
Hi
I'm a new member - need some help or advice.
1997 Omega (2.5  petrol auto)  - drove it ok on Friday night, no symptoms then, parked it up, but today it turns over but there's no spark at all. I called out the breakdown, who tried it with a battery booster pack, still turns over, but still no spark.  The immobiliser and alarm work as they should.
Mr. Breakdown suggested the coil pack....

I just did the paperclip test and got 12 (diagnostic start) and 31 (no rpm signal) - I expected those, but no other codes appeared.

Can anyone give any advice what the problem might be - would it be the coil/dis pack ?  If so, how much would I expect to pay for that to be fixed ?

Thanks for any help anyne can offer.

Phil

Hi everyone - I'm just joined up, I found the forum while searching for info about my latest problem with the 1997 Omega 2.5 Auto (see Help section for my problem !).  Just wanted to say Hi.

Looks like a really useful site.

I've only just moved into the area - can anyone recommend a decent Vauxhall repair speacialist the Greenwich/Charlton/Woolwich area of London that could do work on my Omega at a reasonable price ?
