Its a red wire with a white tracer conect it to the remote out of your new stereo ...usualy a blue with white tracer
when you turn the stereo on the date / time  will come on

Hi there Im using an IDA-X 100 Brilliant just copy & paste the albums from your computer on to a USB flash stick & your away …doesn’t seem to be any limit on the size of flash stick i'm currently using a 32gb  however  USB type Hard Drives are unsuitable (I tried my 320gb passport drive) you can get them to work through a USB powed hub  but every time you take the front of the radio off or stop and restart they go back to track 1 of the hard drive ….whereas a flash USB stick it will carry on from where it left off
The Menus are also easy to use
Just 1 small problem it lists albums / tracks in alphabetical order but all in all a good player & a multichanger could never touch it

Ive breifly read this thread so ive probably missed somthing ...but just for the record i couldnt find a + accsesory feed ....like it says somwere the stereo will turn on with the ignition off .....so now when i take the face off bit off it goes off and when i put it on it comes on .....i find it helps you to remember to take the front panet off your stereo when leaving your car

Whithout actually seeing it its hard to say 1st i would mesure the depth your stereo then measure the depth where its going ....i had a similar problem .....there is sorta a void half way down were i tucked the wires ....theirs no easy way but with a little/lot of pi**ing about they DO usually fit

This is what i dont get .....the sound is perfect ......thers no amplification whateaver its going through ....the only thing i can think of its the Phone muting circuit ...as ive said thers NO BOSE amp on the back shelf ....i cant work it out.....at the end of the day its working & that ll do for me

Sorted it .......but i still dont get it ....there is a red wire with a white stripe on it .i applied 12v to this the display went out were it says the date & year at the top and sound came throgh the speakers ..can any of you explain this ?

Thanks very much for your reply .....i normally know what im doing with auto electrics but this 1 is really doing my head in ......the 8 wires in the middle block i cant seem to get any continuity through any of the pairs at all ...its like there is a relay whats switched them all off and the origional stereo had some sort of wire that energised some sort of switch / relay / phone mute ....hope im making a little sense here ...ive been trying to work it out all afternoon & its really doing me head in  :-?
if its any relavance it did have a CD changer in the back (which has never been in the car)but didnt have the Bose amp on the back parcel shelf although it does have subbs in the back shelf the car is a 1997 CDX 2.5 diesel .....is there anywhere else the BOSE amp could be ?

hi peeps
having took my origional system out (it was working fine)
i cant seem to find the speaker wires at the back acording to the backplate on the old systen it is the middle plug ..its sorta 3 plugs in 1 the way i understood it its data from the radio at the top to the display what im not botherd about ....8 speaker wires / 4 pairs of wired in the middle .....and power at the bottom bit ....the speaker wires in the middle i cant seem to get any continuity from any of the pairs through my multimeter although the speakers ovbiously worked before
there are 8 speakers in the car tweters front /front door.back door/ subs in the back shelf / no amp underneath
im basiacaly changing to an Alpine Mp3 head unit that ive fitted to many cars in the past without any problems but cant seem to faf it out in the Mig
any help Apreciated

Oh, and blue LEDs, no matter what the application, are gay.

Any aftermarket HU should be able to match the illumination in the car, which is a better solution.


Ive had the headunit about 3 years now maybe its time i read the instruction book

As i have now sucesesfully instaled my "aftermarket stereo" the only thing is the iluminatn is Blue
have any of you seen any of the blue light kits like the ones sold on a well known auction site
are they any good or do they look naff ? are they much trouble to fit
its just the blue clashes with the orange

It would be alot easier with the alternator of .......couldnt you get a spanner under it to just nip it up ?......only probs with the tensioner is the the plastic eyes in it at each end (can) crush
