Omega General Help / Re: Where is Crankshaft Speed Sensor?
« on: 14 April 2009, 20:56:04 »
Thanks to everyone's help I've located the speed sensor next to the oil filter (It's black plastic) but now I can't find the other end!!. - Everything is so tight and it doesn't help having the LPG conversion!!

Do I need to remove anything to find the end at the back of the engine? Presumably I reach it from the top?!

I promise I will stop asking stoopid questions eventually!! ;D

Omega General Help / Where is Crankshaft Speed Sensor?
« on: 14 April 2009, 11:19:40 »
This is probably a stupid question but I just can't find it?
I am getting code 019 on the paperclip test in my 1997 2.5V6 which in a previous thread I have been told is the crankshaft speed sensor failing and that it needs changing asap!

Apparently this is an 'easy' job but I have looked but can't identify it !!! - I bought a Haynes manual but ccn't find any mention of it
in there!

Can someone help with exactly where it is and how I get access to it please?

Omega General Help / Uneven Tickover - backfiring and 'popping'
« on: 03 April 2009, 10:51:38 »
Any help would be much appreciated! - I have recently bought a 1997 Omega 2.5i V6 with LPG.
The tickover seems very lumpy and when accelerating from a stand still the exhaust 'pops!' and backfires before the car finally decides to go!
Also the car seems generally sluggish with disappointing acceleration - mpg is shown as around 17mpg.
The car came with receipts showing it has had a full service, new plugs and new HT leads in the last 2000 miles.

Thanks!

Omega General Help / PAPER CLIP TEST - Code 19
« on: 04 April 2009, 09:43:38 »
I've just performed a paperclip test on advice due to uneven tickover and general poor running.

It showed code 19 - I've looked in the Technical Info section and this apparently means - 'incorrect RPM signal'.

Anyone know what that actually means and more to the point what ,if anything, I can do to sort it out!!!!

Thanks a lot!

Omega General Help / Another Exterior Temp Readout problem!
« on: 02 April 2009, 10:13:16 »
Can someone help me with a problem I have with the exterior temp readout in my 1997 2.5V6 please?. It constantly reads about 10 degrees too warm!! - I've read the threads about the location of the sensor but I just can't spot it! Can someone describe what I'm looking for?

I don't normally rise to the bait with things like this but some of the things said in the thread are complete and utter cr*p!
Talk about watching with 'blinkered vision'! - The man had clearly been 'winding up' the police officers (either verbally or by refusing to move!).
You can see one of the dog handlers walk towards him and reach out to him - so clearly something has happened!
The video footage doesn't show what happened leading up to the incident (maybe it has been deliberately edited that way?)
It is a terrible shame that someone died BUT the police were do (and were doing) a VERY difficult job.
People are quick to jump on the bandwagon and make assumptions - but ask yourself this 'Where would we be without them?'
Rant over!!! - I feel better now!
