Omega General Help / Re: Tools

i think we would all like Snapon - its just a money thing. if you want to give any of it away!!!

I have the halfords set and I totally agree, top value for the money, even at £150, although I paid £99 like most others.

Invest in a good leather belt - they do work on oil filter removal and you can use this 'tool' for the other 364 days of the year!

difference size moley's are handy to have in stock, and lots of 13 spanners

what I tend to do is every time in halfords or clarkes, just buy another spanner or something on offer - you dont feel it as much on the pocket and you soon build up a collection

the wife uses the omega most of the time and whilst she is no fairy and would not say she is a speed freak either - somewhere in the middle. she gets 30mpg and most of her stuff is back and to town 20 mile round trip.

so driven careully a decent return, but as saif above the temptation is there to boot. I drve her last night put a tenner in and did 45 miles on that!

just come in on the end of this,

and funnily enougth when the wife went off in the omega this morning (98 2.5) it turned over but no spark. She tried again, nothing. tried a third time and bingo fired up and drove just fine.

so I am a little worried now. are there any more tell tale signs that this sensor is ending its life.

mine has done 101,000 miles and about to embark on a 2 week holiday in cornwall at the end of august. will be doing a full service on the girl before I go, but as I say I now feel somewhat uneasy.

ok on the other side of the boot is the compartment for the first aid kit. Now as well as the first aid kit I have about 240 other small items in their as well.

but the door never stays up, it sort of sags a bit so the two top clips do not function and then just falls open. Still does it if I empty contents of.

Anyone had the same problem and come up with a remedy?

last night ended up being full of things to do that I didnt want to do, so did not get chance to check the air con.

However I am out in her tonite, so will check and remove pollen filter and see what happens.

thanks for that taxi driver

Omega General Help / Air Con - Recharge

I think the aircon needs to be regassed, can you just confirm for me.

When the button is pressed the engine revs do dip but only slightly not as much as before - it used to be quite significant.

It still blows out cold air but with the blower on 5 it is like it is on 1 if that makes sense. So no oomph and not enough cold air to actually cool the car down.

If I am right does anyone know of someone in the Chester area who will do it and what is the realistic max price I should pay.

ok will bear that in mind for the future.

I suppose it is alarmed to stop someone opening the bonnet and trying to disconnect the alarm etc in peace and quite - cannot think of any other reason.

ok attended to the problem saturday morning.

the plunger appeared to be in its original position and was hitting the bonnet cleanly.

So as suggested I put some of the wifes nail varnish on the plunger to mark the bonnet.

Now you know the little stick on plastic blobs (bad description I know) that you get to stick on kitchen doors or drawers I used one of those on the bonnet to ensure the plunger is pressed right down.

Had the alarm on over the weekend (even risked overnight) and everthing ok - so far.

forum working the way it should.

thanks guys

It is the horn - what a bloo*y racket

so you are both pointing me to the bonnet plunger. although this seems the most likely culprit, are they any codes that are stored for alarm faults that would confirm this?

thanks for that,

will check and adjust in the morning  -  do not want to be getting up in the middle of night if it is not the problem!

Can the plunger be raised to wipe any chance of it going off due to heat in bonnet - as I have now just read on another thread?

Omega General Help / Dodgy Alarm
« on: 14 July 2006, 15:01:07 »
I have lived with this problem but would prefer to sort it.

The alarm on my 98 reflection will go off at random. No 4 beeps as I have seen mentioned on other threads. It might be after 1 hour or 12.

I have bought a new car battery, checked the in car sensors. I have even tried pressing the alarm button to disable the cockpit but to no avail.

So to avoid problem, I now shut all doors except drivers side passenger door and reach in and press down the door lock to activate the central locking. then close remaining door. When returning to car at least I can open on the keyfob.

As I said I have sort of got use to it now, but wife did lock keys in car once using this method (dont ask!) and after getting spare key to unlock, spent a whole day repairing the drivers door when some useless dude tried to help wife with a piece of metal!

On the basis that wife will do it again (they only remember the important things in life - like when is the next holiday) would like to sort.

right coming up for fresh air now
