Thanks fiend61 and Dave DND. I will take the unit out tonight and report back.

Could you please let me know if its a normal astra fuse (mini fuse) or any special one (size, rating etc)?

Thanks..

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Siemens NCDR1500 not turning ON
« on: 03 January 2012, 11:23:29 »
Hi all,

Happy new year!

Apologies for posting an Astra query in Omega forum, but the audio system in my car is found far more in Omega than any other Vauxhall, so I am hoping to get some help here..

I've a 2001 Astra with Siemens NCDR1500 stereo which had been working fine till recently..

I've recently come back from a holiday, the car was parked for 10 days and battery was flat when I opened the car.

So the car was jump started but the NCDR1500 has not turned ON since.

I've also previously jump started the car a few times but my radio never asked for a code and always worked fine!

I thought maybe the power button is playing so I tried the EJECT CD option (which usually turns it ON) but no joy, there is an audio CD inside.

Also checked the associated fuses in the fuse box (Fuse 19-10A, 34-20A & 21-5A). They all seem fine.

Any ideas what else to check?

Thanks in advance..

TheBoy, if you can take a look over weekend, I can come around to yours (northants) as I don't think I would find anyone more qualified or trustworthy elsewhere..

I will ring some dealerships tomorrow to get prices on carpass. I hope I won't need to drive to their forecourts to get it done..

TheBoy

This does seem to be factory fit as I've all the manuals etc for audio and telematics..

So, if I get a carpass, are we back in business?
I will tell them explicitly the reason for getting the carpass being the need of code for NCDR/ immobilizer as they are the same.

I think there won't be a need to depair the CDC3 as it was never fitted in a car before (bought it brand new)..

Does the car need to be present at the dealership to get a carpass? Any experience with £15 ones, could someone name them and fame them please?

P.S. TheBoy: lol @ dody tech2s...

Dave, TheBoy:
The CDC3 from CCR500/600 is the one with ident -TA which is what I had in the car before.
The car was never fitted with a CD changer from factory. The previous owner saw the plug in the glove box and put one CDC3 (91157146 or -TA ident, the one you use with CCR500). It never worked at all.
When I bought this car, I did some enquiry and found that I need a CDC3 91157147 (or ident -TB) to work on this car. So I sold the -TA and bought the -TB.
I made some progress as the music started playing for 5-10 seconds which means the wiring/ unit are OK but some configuration needs updating for it to continue to work OK.
TheBoy, I don't have the carpass/ vehicle pass card. Would the NCDR1500 code be on there? If you could mention an example, I can scan through the books (including the audio and NCDR1500 ones) and see if I can find this code?

Dave

You may be right. However, please note that I've presumed the 4 digit number stamped (literally) on the box in which the CDC3 came as the code, you may laugh at me if that is not supposed to be the code as it never had any kind of label on it to help me understand what it meant..

TheBoy's mail has put a smile on my face, thank you so much as I've the same setup (with telemactics etc), so I've got some hope now..

I don't think my NCDR1500 came with any code, the reason is that I've disconnected it several times and changed battery etc, but it has never asked me for a code. It just works fine when I put it back even after a month. I will still take a look in the books but I very much doubt that I've a code for it.

The CDC3, on the other hand was bought "brand new in sealed box" from Vauxhall dealership who ran a clearance on fleebay (hence the part number 91157147), so it would be upsetting to find that the laser is knackered. It did come with a code but the headunit/ display never asked for it..

I could not find a way to update my profile any further but I shall look again. I am in Basildon, Essex and travel regularly to Birmingham on weekends..

Thanks once again TheBoy, I hope you would get me sorted...

Thanks Mark

I've a DTC/ code reader that I bought off cheap from fleebay that has a blue tech2 sticker on it, do you think plugging that one into OBD will help?

Or
Do you recommend anyone with a tech 2 who can do this job? I hope you won't say Vauxhall as I don't know how much they would charge.. any idea?

Hi, Would just like to add that Vauxhall part number for my new CDC3 is 91157147.

I tried to insert pics but don't know how as the windows browser tab did not open on this thread..

Apologies for posting an Astra query in Omega forum, but the audio system in my car is found far more in Omega than any other Vauxhall, so I am hoping to get some help here..

I've a 2001 Astra with Siemens NCDR1500 stereo.. The previous owner had a wrong version of Philips CDC3 changer installed (-TA suffix) which was not working at all, so I bought a brand new version of CDC3 (-TB suffix) which is the right one for my car and installed it in the glove box with the plug pre-wired for CD changer.

Although new CDC3 came with a code, the system never asked for it.

The issue is that the CD changer does not work through CDC button on the headunit at the moment. It starts working when:

* The headunit is switched OFF and 4- CD magazine is inserted into its slot in CD changer.

Then headunit switches ON automatically followed by display messages of "Check Disc 3, 2 etc" and then finally the display message "Check Disc 2".

Then the first song of CD1 starts playing and then in 5-10 seconds, I think the CD changer freezes, the song stops and then nothing at all..

The headunit still carries on as normal if you press other buttons for audio, NAV etc... The only way to re-start CD changer (for again 5 seconds only) is to switch headunit OFF, take 4-CD magazine out of CD changer and insert it back again when headunit is in OFF mode...

I have to take the sat nav disc out every time I wish to listen to an audio CD which is not very helpful at the moment..

Could someone please highlight what is going on?

Thanks for your help in advance....

Hi again

Just to update you all that I managed to get the LCD and replace it on my CID. The CID is back up and running fine on my car. No visible difference apart from 1 dead Pixel (2nd hand LCD)..

The Boy's guide worked really well. Would just like to add that there is an exception to the guide. Near the end of dismantle, when you eject the ribbon cable, my CID does not have any retention clip to hold that ribbon cable. I just gently pulled it out evenly from both sides. Similarly I just had to push it in from both sides when finishing the installation.

Thanks a ton to TheBoy, Marks DTM, Nick Argue and Harmin for their help. Without their help, I am sure I would have got nowhere..
You guys rock!!

Thanks TheBoy, I've ordered the screen form portugal fleebay..

Its a used one with 6 months warranty. I priced him down to EURO 115 including delivery.
Hopefully it should arrive by tomorrow and I shall update the forum once I've replaced.

Thanks for your continued support once again..

Thanks Harmin, Marks

If you check the link on ebay, it looks like the same 5 inch LCD as the other one. THis one will ship in 3 days, whereas from Canada it may take 10 days as well as the customs and VAT duty on top, so I am inclined to get this one from Portugal as its within the EU.

I will wait till tomorrow for a response from "the boy". At the moment I am happy with what Mark said, its probably a minor production change (but why he did not list Opel/ Vauxhall/ GM in his advert?)..
The seller's response is "not sure, send me your LCD image for confirmation".

Hi all

A new member here but not an Omega owner, hope its still fine to ask for help.

Thanks to a guy called Nick Argue (Omega owner), I got pointed to this thread and I've exactly similar problem as Harvin, however my car is a 2001 Astra Mk4 DTi LS.

I've a Siemens NCDR 1500 unit with 5 inch sat nav display CID at the top.

The screen is flickering at the moment and I am looking for a new LCD.

I've taken the CID off now and can dismantle it as described by "the Boy".. It looks exactly similar going through his guide but there is no part number sticker at the back of my CID to prove its exactly same as the Omega one.

Would LQ5AW136 LCD fit my CID as well?

I've also found this LCD at:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360153450426&_trksid=p2759.l1259

However, it says the part number as LQ5AW136 T and does not mention Opel/ Vauxhall in its list.
If I go ahead and buy this one, would it work?

Thanks for your help in advance..
