Omega General Help / Re: LPG is it worth it?
« on: 14 June 2008, 15:59:50 »
on eBay you can by a 6 cylinder multipoint system for just shy of 600 quid (then you need to buy a tank).

there is a conversion company by me that would do it for 1500 notes.

would be interested to get the info from the place in cardiff, though.

but its only woth doing IF you plan to keep the car a fair while.

Omega General Help / ignition barrel replacement
« on: 07 June 2008, 11:14:27 »
is replacing an ignition barrel just a simple plug and play procedure?

the barrel in the elite is fekt and needs replacing, but the key i have now has a red piece on the top and im wondering if its a chipped key and i would need a chipped key and barrel replacement.

please help quickly as i cant get anywhere without the car.
cheers

Omega General Help / slight (i hope) gearbox problem
« on: 22 May 2008, 23:20:11 »
right.
got a 3 litre elite auto and, every now and then, the gearbox seems to slip into 'snow' mode (the light doesnt illuminate, but it drives like it does when thebutton is pressed), but if i turn the ignition off and back on, its fine until it does it again.

any ideas?

gutted and p1553d off.

thought i would get it checked out before i spent money on the dispac, so called the guy who checked it yesterday and he happily came round this morning to do a compression test (said he would if i stripped it ready for him, which was nice, and for free) andhe confirmed a valve has gone in the left head.

only had the fekking thng for a week.

this is really testing my love affair with vauxhalls.
think i might go back to my 406. :o(

so nayway, its being striped and bits available in the parts section.

thanks for all your advice THEBOY! and everyone else.

ok.
had the guy come out to look at the old girl and the prognosis isnt great.

firtsly, dispac is fekked (this was resoundingly confirmed when i came out of work and could hardly get enough drive to move, even tho it started alright)

but, and this is the worst part, he also reckons theres a chance a valve has gone too.

i am not a very happy chappy. :(

Omega General Help / definitive age/model???
« on: 16 January 2007, 21:38:59 »
is there a definitive chane over age for omega engines?????

i ask because i think my dispack is on its way out (pinking to hell and have already had the plugs n leads done) but not sre which one to get.

was told, the way to check them is the early ones have a electric plug with a metal clip on, but the later ones have a cerated rubber shroud around the electric plug, but i have pulled the wiper shroud off to see if i can see down the back of the engine and cant see a fappin thing.

so, can i tell iff mine would be the later type (rubber plug) or the early type (metal clip type holder) just by the fact its a '97 model??

cheers anyone
