Also... a long shot Iknow but... If the tyres on the front and rear have different profiles, this will also show the same symptoms on ABS light etc....

Hi Guys,
Just bought my first Omega and saw your site and thought you maybe able to help me out..
I have a 2000 VAUXHALL OMEGA CDX V6 AUTO all of a sudden the speedo stopped working and the t/c light along with the abs light came on..I have read on here that it could be the abs ecu but i don't have the problems with the power steering..And the lights are on all the time not intermittent.
I took it to a code reader fella and he couldn't read the abs side of the ecu for some reason and wanted me to buy a new ecu..i then gave it to a mate who said his machine didn't show any fault with the abs!!! i now have another display saying safe!! i seem to be digging a bloody big hole the more i look into it..I have also read that it could be a sensor on the rear axle is this correct?? HELP!!! i would pull my hair out but there isn't much left after owning a land rover (LOL) cheers guys Ali  :D

Have you had a look though the parts for sale section in the forum? There are a few breakers on there now and you might be able to pick up a secondhand ABS ECU.

Post up your location and someone might be close to you who could lend a hand getting it fixed.

Thanks for your advice guys..I'am always willing for a hand to do it..But i also have'nt ever done a ecu change and by looking on the net and seeing how hard it is and how long it will take..I'am not really sure i would be up to it.. :'( I'am in waterlooville hants if any members want a nice ecu change job  :D

ABS ECU fix should be less than £150 in parts and a couple of hours to change ... is it REALLY worth buying a car you know nowt about, and trying to sell a faulty one, for the sake of £150 ???

Give BBA Reman a ring on 01634 687222 and discuss the problem with them. They sorted my old 2.5 miggy out and it took less than a week  :)

Thing is i have been quoted £550 to repair mine..and its also due a mot in a week or so and theres a knocking on the rear suspension and i'am worried its going to cost me more to get a new mot on it on top of the ecu repair..hence looking for another cheapy i guess :'(

Omega General Help / Another new guy question
« on: 09 June 2009, 21:08:28 »
I think i will be giving up on my V6 with abs ecu problem..been quoted to much money to repair it..so i have been looking at other cheap omegas..One states the car has an EGR valve fault, it is driveable but whilst driving, the ECU light comes on and goes off intermitently its a gls dti..Any ideas??? Also another says that the auto box has a fault it will not hold itself on a hill you need to use the brake any ideas on this fault...sorry to ask but i done my money on buying the first omega and finding out thats its going to cost more than the car is worth so have little funds to buy another hence looking at cheaper options and maybe make one goos one out of the two..Any advice guys?? cheers again Ali
