i fix car radios ,sounds like you got a faulty cd mechanism ,could be out of timing, worst case scenario something snapped inside.

sorry have to agree with "the boy" on this ,you normally have 10 attempts but as its an all in one unit the memory chip isnt communicating with the cd changer/vice versa its a strange one.

you need to leave the radio on until safe changes to ----10 eg .the lockout time depends on how many times the codes been entered in 2minute increments eg.2,4,8,16,32 etc up to a maximum of ten times, its worth a try, also ignition needs to be on

doesnt matter when the codes were entered wrong, these radios have a memory chip iin them as do the changers which infinitely stores code info.

safe means that you have entered the wrong code a certain number of times, radio needs to be on for anything between 2 mins and 2 hours as the code is time locked

after looking over my  2.5 v6 cd prefacelift which i bought for £100 im now in a quandry on where to start with servicing this car, faults i have found so far are ,engine management light constantly on,previous owner used it like that for 6 months said something about having the rocker cover gasket changed and light didnt reset i got a constant brake pad warning on in display ,i have no manual for this car so no instructions on how things work,i get a red dome on my sunroof facia which i assume is an infra red receptor, yet i only have one key,the car runs like and sounds like a bag of shit, mainly misfires and exhaust noise ,how the hell do you access the dis unit and occasionally i get a smell of petrol into the cab but cant see any signs of leakage at the union,is owning an omaga worth all this or do ijust give up at the first hurdle, all advice greatly appreciated as this car has the engine in the wrong way and two extra plugs lol

thanks for that jason h ,but anyway to "the boy" found problem eml now gone off  finally ,see if you can shed any light on this ,knock sensor wire consits of an outer screen and an insulated single wire, outer screen was broken and possibly shorting on broken piece of insulated wire ,i have now connected outer screen back up by way of a temporary link,is the screen irrelevant or is it a return path for pulses to the ecu.also would short in knock sensor stop car from starting.

excellent it is plugged in but i did notice some black tape around it,also the other fault maf.i have noticed like an exhaust blowing sound coming from engine bay, somebody on here said it could be egr valve,or manifold gaskets, would that cause the maf code.

engine wouldnt start on saturday after i had cleaned spark plugs below idle control valve, after stripping loom in casing and checking for any open circuit connections the engine fired up on sunday morning and was ok today back and fore to work apart from misfiring mainly at low speeds or under load, what does the knock sensor and maf relate too as far as likely problems
