Hello! Newbie here! I really wish this guy came back to tell us what he found the problem was. Mine is doing this, but intermittently. Sometimes it fills, no worries. Sometimes it fills only for the first wash cycle. Sometimes it doesnt fill at all and the pump just sucks air. I am skilled at recognising the sound now, so I chuck a few litres of water in during the critical points of the cycle, and it works fine. Then it will work again for a few more days! So, what is it more likely to be - an intermittent valve, or an intermittent hose blockage? 
. Yeah, okay, I'm going to rip it open and mess with both (don't you just love the technical jargon?) but I am just trying to lay as much groundwork as possible before I do!
