Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: "CDC SAFE" MESSAGE
« on: 21 March 2010, 14:48:37 »
I had the same problem with my radio, I got some removal pins from ebay, they are only and couple or three pound.

I had mine repaired by Dave DND, he is a gent and offers a great service, sent to him on a Monday and was back fitted and all working on Thursday, superb service.

Hello all,
Im on the ear-ole for bit of advice on my audio unit.
It is a CCR 2006 in a face lift model, the radio and cassette work fine but when i try to switch to CD mode the readout shows 'CDC SAFE' and will not play CDs.
I have disconnected the power supply and inputted the security code again which is accepted as normal, the radio and cassette works fine but again the CD shows the same message and wont work.
The CD is 4 magazine one and there are two original new CDs in not copies etc.
can any one offer any suggestions. :(
Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Missfire / juddering drive
« on: 05 October 2010, 11:10:30 »
hello again all,
i have been browsing through the forum and came across this topic about missfire
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1285706807
It relates to the maf sensor and causing a missfire and the ignition lights going dim when the missfire occurs, this seems to happen with mine.  Does anyone know if this is a normal fault and symptom.  I am going to try and find the sensor and and unplug it to see if there is any difference.

I have taken of the number one lead while the engine is running and it definitely makes a difference to the engine as would be expected with taking off a lead.  Is there anything electrical that could alter the output from the disspack or could there be a completely unrelated fault that would cause these kind of symptoms.

Oh and to add to the above I have done a paper clip test and there are no fault codes showing.

Omega General Help / Missfire / juddering drive
« on: 03 October 2010, 21:34:35 »
hi all
i have a bit of a problem again which is frustrating me almost to defeat.
A few months ago i had a misfire problem with my 3.0ltr miggy, this was traced to the disspack which i replaced and all was well.
However I now have what appears to be a similar problem.  I thought that the disspack could have failed but after changing it twice with two new ones the problem is still there.  I have also since changed the leads and plugs.
I have checked the spark on the leads and the number one lead seems to be weaker and not arcing like the other leads do.
When started and on tickover the enging appears to run without any real issue, add a few revs and it starts to judder and miss, and if i try driving it the judder and apparent misfire almost seems terminal, power loss and awful engine judder.
Is there anything else that could could cause these symptoms, its driving me barmy now, any advise would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers all

That will be it then, i was reluctant to fiddle taking it off and sending it off if there was another fault, now i am satisfied that it needs to come off and be sent away.

Thanks all for the advice again and all the best to everyone on OOF, i dont know how i get on without everyones superb advice it saves a fortune especially to someone like me who doesnt mind tackling most jobs but without having the experiance I just need a little helping hand and reasurance.

cheers all.

Thanks for the advise, Im still al little unsure as to what the isssue could be, sensors or the ECU unit for the ABS.
Just to add a little more info, every now and then, probably every three or four journeys, the speedo may work and the tc and abs light go off.  This is usually only for a couple of minutes at the most and then its back to normal - warning lights on etc.

Could the ECU still be at fault or is it more likely to be a sensor failure.

That will do nicely Entwood cheers.  I dont mind scraping a bit of skin of the old hands and thanks for advice about not taking whole unit off, it sounds like that would be a right pain in the rear and no doubt i would of if you hadnt said.

I will give them a ring and see what they say.

Thanks again Entwood  :y

Cheers Entwood  :y,  I take it i send the whole unit, pump and ecu together?

Thanks for the contact details I shall give them a buzz.

Do you have any idea how easy it is refitting the unit.  Should i expect problems with air locks etc or is there any trick or advice for this.

Omega General Help / ABS ECU advice sought
« on: 14 March 2010, 17:19:09 »
Hello again everyone

I have joined the growing club of miggy owners who has the abs and traction control lights on, which indicates that there is a problem with the ABS pump or ECU.

My first query is, which would it be - the pump or the ecu.  When driving in the snow I wasnt getting any abs at all and this was a bit nervy however Im old school and remember driving cars without abs lol.  Would one or the other cause this or is it still hit and miss which one it is.

Following on from this is, i will be trying to replace the unit myself, not an easy job by all accounts but i will give it a bash.
I am aware that there are so many different ECU's and pumps for each model.  To take the confusion away from all this I was pondering sending it off to be refurbished instead of buying a used one (Vx new beyond finances).

If i did this will it come back with all the correct programming for the car or would it need a tech2 session.  Secondly, does anyone know or can recommend a company that does this job and the rough cost that I would be expecting to be charged for the refurb.

Any advice on this would be grafefully appreciated.  ;)

Duane
