Hi,

I had this problem some time ago but wasn't a member at the time.  Just occasionally, I would try to indicate and the repeater on the dash would flash only once.  I thought it must be a faulty indicator switch but couldn't find anything wrong with it.

I eventually traced the live feed for the indicators and found that it is routed via the hazard lights switch in the middle of the dash.  There was a bad connection with one of the blades of the hazard light switch where it plugs into the dash.  By slightly bending the relevant blade and plugging the switch back in I solved the problem.

Hope this helps someone

Peter

Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust manifold gasket blowing
« on: 25 July 2009, 16:50:50 »
Well, the mechanic who checked it for me said he burnt his fingers feeling for where it was blowing - letting it cool, starting it up again and feeling for it and so on.  I trust what he's telling me, so yes its the manifold to head gaskets, both sides.

Can you get the engine off its mountings with a jack or will I need a hoist.  Presumably I'd need to decouple the prop shaft?  Would anything else need to be got out of the way to make room to move it across?

Thanks for your help

Omega General Help / Exhaust manifold gasket blowing

Hi,

Unfortunately my 1995 V6 CD has just started "chuffing" from the back end of both exhaust manifolds and my local mechanic tells me that it will cost at least half what I might expect the car to be worth for them to fix it.

I think I'm going to have to clock up 40 posts on here so that I can offer it for sale to an enthusiast - I really don't want to scrap it.

I have read the post describing how to do the head gaskets (removing the heads seems to be the best way to get at the manifolds to replace their gaskets) but I don't really have the time to tackle that.

Anyone with any better ideas, please let me know.

Thanks

Peter

Hi all,

I've had my v6 CD for the last 8-9 years and I'm afraid I've used it mainly for towing a caravan (shock horror) for annual holidays.  However, I've got to say, it is much the best car I have ever owned and I love driving it, with or without caravan in tow.
