Here's one for the techies
Haven't had the car for long and have had five  miggys previous to this one,
When I remove the ignition key from the barrel,
I get a whining slowly diminishing really annoying sound,
I was told that the previous owner had removed some relay or other to stop something or other from making a noise(he had very sensitive hearing)
Was also told that he had put the relay back prior to sale,
Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Re: Suspected HGF
« on: 04 July 2016, 17:48:33 »
Sorry to say she has now got to go,
I am not able to do the HG myself and the local vx garage wants half a mortgage,
My local garage wants the same,
Awesome condition shame really,
Not a spot of rust on her,
Waited a long time to find a miggy with bodywork like this one,

Will be asking my local garage on Monday for some costing so,
Guessing they're going to say something like 400 shiny notes

2.2  03
Went out to the local town on the weekend,
After about 50 miles the miggy started misfiring,
It had been standing for about a month not used,
I had noticed when turning it over on the drive that occasionally on tick over it would miss fire for about five mins then clear and run ok,
I just thought ok need to change the plugs  one is misfiring,
Temp was rising and falling throughout the journey,
But pretty stable at 85/90,
Took the motorway home to get the temp down as it was starting to climb a little,
Got half way home about 15 miles or so from original misfiring,
Had to stop as the water light came on,
Asked a local for water,
Took two kettle fulls ,
expansion tank had water in it but not much,
Waited twenty mins or so and drove home,
Got home about a further five or so miles,
Temp was touching the red line,
Opened the bonnet to aid cooling,
Exhaust was like a steam engine when revved,
Loads of white steam,
No crud in the expansion tank, but the oil is slightly discoloured,
Occasional puffs of smoke from around the exhaust manifold,
Guessing HG gone
Shame really this miggy is immaculate for its age,
What's it gonna cost me to keep her running,
Prob local garage as my backs not as good as it used to be lol

Thanks for the advice guys,
Flame trap seems like the obvious solution,
Any reccomendations on what would fit without too much trouble?
Awesome replies as usual,
Jiffy

Update on the cam cover pressure,
Checked all the pipes for blockages,
Also pushed a small needle through the hole in the small metal pipe that is sticking out of the throttle body,
Didn't get any resistance when I pushed it all the way in,
Could feel it going through the hole,
And hitting a solid part on the other side,
Refitted the small pipe and sucked and blowed in it,
Didn't get any air when I sucked or blowed down it,
Maybe have to take the throttle body off and have a good look see on a bench,

Omega General Help / Pressure in the cam cover 2.2

Hi guys,
Just had the rocker cover gasket replaced by my local garage,
Left it there for a day to ensure that the sealant was well set,
Now it's home I have checked it for leaks and all seems fine,
My question is,
When I take the oil filler cap off the rocker, while the engine is running,
There seems to be an awfull lot of pressure puffing out of there,
I have only had V6's before so am not sure how much it should be puffing,
I have yet to speak to the mech who changed the gasket to ask if he checked or cleaned the breather pipes, ( Hesse off for three days)
Just wondered what kind of pressure other owners are getting pushed out of they're cover,
I will probably end up checking them myself,
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Missed driving these beauties so much over the years,
This will be omega number six,
Happy to be back,
You guys were so helpful when I had problems with my alarm sounder goin off randomly,
Smiling again every time I look at my new toy,
