Omega General Help / snow tyers and themostat gasket
« on: 28 December 2010, 13:31:29 »
just replaced rear tyers on my 2.5 td elite estate with continental snow tyers,i can now drive her safely in the snow and would recomend them, i got them from a part worn specalist at £22.50 each, bargain.I think i may have fitted my thermostat gaskets wrong,i fitted o ring first, then thermostat then plastic housing, now seem to have a small leak from below housing, did clean up around the housing before re fitting, will i just have to do it all over again. or would stop leak work?

yep just replaced mine cost £27 from pentagon, they quoted me £50 For the belts, paid £19 for branded after market ones.On re fitting tensioner, the black bracket has a hook and a pivot, bit extream i know, but i used a crow bar never needed to touch tensioner just the black bracket.also no need to remove tensioner wheel to replace belt, make the loop and push belt between top of wheel, then feed on to pully, fit fiddly but no more than trying to re fit tensioner wheel and bolt.replaced my themostat as well but now seem to have a leek near to housing.

Hi,thanks everyone for replys, but its the bracket that holds the tensioner wheel that as snapted,i have orderd one from pentagon £27,but they wanted £50 for the belts, going to order after market ones, has anyone removed this bracket, mine is now off the car,had to use male sump plug, allen type key,but i think the whole unit has come off the engine, which i dont think should have happend, managed thermostat, after removing air filter,as advized thank you,the one that was on was open,so car hasn't been runing at correct temp.So if anyone reading this has had this happen, would like to hear how they repaired it.
