Omega General Help / Auto Gearbox
« on: 15 January 2010, 14:27:16 »
I have a problem with my automatic gearbox.

When driving along at 60 or 70, if you take your foot off the accellerator and put it back on, even very gently, the car changes down 2 gears.  It doesn't happen so much at lower speeds about town.  If I use the cruise control to accellerate it either stays in the same gear or only goes down 1 gear.

This problem only appeared when my exhaust started blowing, so i thought this might have been causing the problem, but I have just put a Powerflow stainless steel system on (it is quite quiet and gives good power) and the gearbox is a bit better, but not 100%.

Is this a symptom that it is needing a gearbox software update?  Could it be my accellerator pedal?  It feels quite stiff.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Re: Im fitting lowering springs
« on: 23 December 2009, 15:35:47 »
I too have an elite and I will be uprating my suspension in the near future.  Going to go for MV6 springs with Bilstein shocks.  Springs shouldn't be too expensive with trade card and you can get a full set of shocks in total vauxhall for £250.

I personally wouldn't even bother fitting springs with the air shocks, I doubt it would handle any better, someone may come to correct me though.

Insurance wise, if anything happens and there are problems, you could play the 'they were on there when I bought it' and 'I thought they were standard' cards.  I don't know how the system works but there are many out there who would simply not know the difference if they werent told when they bought the car.

Omega General Help / Suspension Upgrade
« on: 06 December 2009, 22:27:27 »
I was browsing e-bay and came across these.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HSD-Coilovers-Vauxhall-Monaro-and-Omega_W0QQitemZ190352499293QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2c51e4a25d

Has anyone fitted, or heard of them?  Are they worth the money?

I also came across the following,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OMEGA-B-V6-TDi-LOWERING-SPRINGS-BILSTEIN-SHOCKS_W0QQitemZ350286746823QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item518eb794c7

Anyone fitted them?  I was looking at balance motorsport website and the shocks were a lot more expensive than these, makes me wonder if they are genuine?

Omega General Help / Steering Assistance
« on: 09 November 2009, 15:13:22 »
Just a general query.

When I put my mig from D to R or vice versa, the steering feels heavier (less assisted) until the gear engages.  I don't think this is anything to worry about but can someone explain why?

Is it doing any harm changing gear when the car is rolling slowly while manoevering or should it be at a complete stop?

Omega General Help / V6 Cambelt Locking kit
« on: 08 October 2009, 09:29:26 »
I have just purchased my first Omega and firstly can I say good work guys.  I have a lot less worries now knowing that there is such a wealth of knowledge ready & willing to help.  :y

I will be replacing my cambelt and was wondering if there was anywhere that hires out the cambelt locking tools?  Or even a local member (aberdeenshire area) willing to lend me a set for a small fee / bottle of spirits?

Failing that, where would be the best place to buy a set from?  I have seen them for £180 but this seems a bit steep for a set of tools to be used a couple of times.

Newbie Welcome Area / Newbie - Bannjaxx's Old Car
« on: 05 October 2009, 10:04:12 »
Hi all,

I just bought Bannjaxx's 3.0 elite on Saturday.  Seen it advertised in AutoTrader and then low and behold advertised on here too.

I live on the Orkney Isles. Drove the car back from Perth to Aberdeen no problem.  I am very pleased, should have bought one years ago!

Anyway, looking forward to joining in  :)

I am looking for a non return valve for the air intake system (the bit that the guy on the cambelt DVD tells you to suck and blow through to check).

Do you have one to fit a 3.0 facelift?
I would think so yes. I assume its the little black square box with two vac pipes? And not the air injection into the exhausts (bigish metal pipe)?

It is attached to a metal pipe that runs along the front of the engine. Screws onto the pipe you have to remove to get to the cambelt.

If you decide to break, I would be interested in the manual box and all parts to convert my auto.

How much to have it palletised? I can arrange courier to uplift.

Hi Dave,

Car drove faultlessly to Aberdeen, very pleased.  Arrived back in Orkney now and I think I may have got myself a bit of a bargain.  :)

Good luck with your Laguna (book of electrical fault codes on the way for christmas) and good luck with your new venture.  It was very nice to meet you. :y

Hi all,

I have been looking for an Omega for a while but struggling to find one locally, off to see this car tomorrow having seen it on Autotrader.

Bannjaxx let slip about this forum, and having seen the exact car I was looking at, I just had to add a comment.

£1250?? Shot yourself in the foot there mate!!! ;D

Anyway, everything sorted for tomorrow morning, still be around 9'ish but will give you an update en-route.
