Omega General Help / Re: Not Sure!!
« on: 29 December 2009, 15:39:28 »
I have taken mine on a twenty mile drive and there is no sign of the coil pack drying out so I am opting for a new one personally as the car was a pig to start sometimes anyway and I had already decided that it may have been the coil pack. The car now missing and other peeps having similar issues which just goes to confirm that it is time for a new coil pack, thanks for your help and here I go under the scuttle panel again,I would not mind but I only replaced the HBV last week, lol,,Moo

Crikey, its not just mine then!! I parked my car on the drive running as sweet as a nut as usual on the 23rd Dec then went to start it yesterday and when it did eventually start it is also missing.Looks like it is just the front left plug though,I have tested for a spark and there isnt one at this plug. There is no oil in the wells etc,I think it may be a damp dis pack but not sure.Moo :'(

Omega General Help / Re: Immobiliser box location?
« on: 05 December 2009, 12:19:14 »
Hi Simon,if you want the actual immobiliser/alarm module itself its on the right hand side of the drivers footwell behind the kickplate (as you are sat in the car). The item the previous member was talking about is purely the chip reader that sends info to the actual module/ecu ,regards Moo

Omega General Help / Acceleration flat spot ANY HELP PLEASE
« on: 17 November 2009, 23:25:52 »
Hi,could anybody please help with a slight glitch with my Mig 2.5 auto. When first setting off in drive or reverse the car stalls & when in neutral if I floor it revs drop suddenly and then more often than not engine dies.

Other than that the car runs as sweet as a nut.

Not so much of a problem most of the time but very dangerous on roundabouts as it launches three feet onto the roundabout and then stalls in drive  :(Any ideas please

Thanks Mick but top hose was brand new GM one, looks like it did the same thing on last owner before he gave up and traded it in.Not to worry as I am replacing HBV this weekend along with thermostat and top hose while all the gubbins is off the top of the engine,I have also spotted a small leak from a pipe under the HBV so will have a look at that at the same time.Hopefully that will sort it and be the end of my problems, fingers crossed.I will keep you posted, many thanks regards Moo

Quick update everybody, the car flew its mot and sat there quite happily at just over 90 degrees throughout the mot and emissions test but as soon as I arrived back home (2miles) the top rad hose split where it connects to the engine and emptied all over the drive.

There are no dashes etc on the climate control when I turn the car off so once again I think it may be the thermostat as there obviously is no water circulation which I presume caused the hose to blow.

Do the thermostats on Omegas have a habit of sticking at all,I know its a top end strip down so basically and I dont want to be wasting my time if the thermo is ok and there is another common blockage anywhere.

Its becoming a right pain as well now as the frost is coming and the heater also is not operating as it should due to no water flow, any more advice would be much appreciated, regards Moo

Cheers chaps,I will have a look at it later today (Fri) after its been for its medical (fresh mot) if it passes I will be made up as it didnt cost me a mint,it has 2 weeks mot left but I always take a car straight for mot just to make sure its 100% roadworthy before the kids get in it.Moo :y

Hi Mr Matchless and thanks for the reply,I was told by the previous owner that it overheats as the fans dont kick in when required (I have bypassed the sensors and fans work fine) the temp gauge sits at about 90 all the time unless standing in traffic then it gradually rises.I know the fans are supposed to kick in at 100 but these dont, non at all therefore I think that the water in the rad is cooler thus the sensors not telling the fans to come on and with the heater not being warm I summized that there was no water circulation so put it down to a stuck thermo.I will have a feeel around as you say and get back to you, many thanks regards Moo

Omega General Help / NEW OMEGA OWNER WITH OVERHEATING PROBLEM---HELP
« on: 05 November 2009, 03:45:17 »
Hi,just bought my Omega 2.5 and the fans on the rad do not kick in when needed, along with that the heater only blows cold so me thinks it may be the thermostat but if any of you guys could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated,Moonie :-[

Newbie Welcome Area / HELLO EVERYBODY PEEPS

Hiya everyone, just bought my first Miggy after years of Vectra driving as it came along at the right price after my 2.5 Sri Veccy estate concentric slave cylinder gave up the ghost and was uneconomicaly viable to repair due to the 5 hour fitting time etc etc.

So now I have a 1997 2.5 AUTO (I know but needs must and I aint walking to work)Omega and I am going to call it "demissus" as it is being a right royal pain in the a**e at the minute but I am sure it will give me plenty of pleasure once treated right.

I bought "demissus" from a dealer as a trade in with an overheating fault but I drove it home 20 miles no probs,he said the previous owner told him the fans on the rad do not kick in when needed, along with that the heater only blows cold so me thinks it may be the thermostat but if any of you guys could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, toodle pip for now,lol
