Omega General Help / Re: 3.0 V6 No Power following start-up
« on: 02 May 2013, 11:34:45 »
Where is the coolant temp sensor?  I will check it and report back.

What I did notice, when the old ICV was fitted, was that the temperature gauge took a while to come up. With the new one fitted, the car has pulled away much, much, better and the temp gauge came up much quicker.

The new ICV appears to have solved the problem. The old ICV left the car gutless and running like a bag of hammers. The car runs much smoother now.

A brand new genuine thermostat was fitted only recently and this is working fine.

The car's autobox is not pulling away in third.

The persistent fault code: 19 does worry me. :-\

Many thanks,

Andy :y

I have now fitted a new Idle Control Valve (ICV) and it appears to have solved the problem. :y

As for the crankshaft sensors - they were both genuine Vauxhall parts bought from the dealer.

Would running with this fault code cause any problems to the engine?

The engine does run a little rough - could a faulty crankshaft sensor cause this? ???

Many thanks,

Andy

It is also showing Fault Code: 19 despite trying two new crankshaft sensors. :'(

There is no water nor oil in the plug wells.

The fault is only present when the car is started when cold. I can only liken it to when cars had a manual choke.

Idle is not too bad but when you select gear and press the accelerator there is no power and the engine becomes lumpy.

It takes a good few hundred meters of this before she appears to 'wake up'.

Any ideas? ???

Cheers

Andy

Omega General Help / 3.0 V6 No Power following start-up

Hello,

My car starts fine from cold but idles lumpy. When I try to drive off there is virtually no power.

I liken it to when cars had a manual choke and you forgot to pull it out.

A hundred yards down the road, struggling to get some speed, the car becomes gradually more responsive. After a mile of so the car appears to run fine - albeit a little lumpy.

I have a fault code for the crankshaft sensor but have replaced it twice with sensors from the Main Dealer.

Any thoughts? :-\

Many thanks,

Andy

Omega General Help / Re: Radiator Fans Not Working

It was the electricity supply to the relays. Got there in the end!

Many thanks to all that helped.

Cheers :y

Checked the fuses and they are all ok.

(I have a 2001 3.0 V6 auto)

Thanks

Omega General Help / Radiator Fans Not Working

Hi,

Sadly, my twin radiator fans have suddenly stopped working! :'(

Where should I look to solve the problem? :-\

Cheers

Yes - definitely the correct vacuum pipe.

11
I have now tested the vacuum pipe suction at different cabin control temperatures.

There is suction beyond just the 'Lo' setting. The suction appears to be triggered by the cabin temperature. Coming on when the temperature you set triggers the cabin fan to start. Go up in temperature and the fan stops - as does the suction.

This suction is present if the air-con is on or 'econ' is selected.

So if this vacuum pipe is blocked will it impact upon cold air coming into the cabin?

Will the air remain hot regardless of what cabin temperature I select?

12
Fantastic Answer! Cheers! :)

I am going to check the suction of the vacuum pipe that leads to the HBV at different temps tomorrow.

Following that excellent answer, I feel to do so is no longer required, but I will have a go just to see and will report back. I expect it will only suck when the dial is on 'low'.

Again, thanks for the answer :y

Andy

So - if hot water is always flowing to the heater matrix - would this have any impact upon cold air entering the cabin when I select 'cold' on the dial?

Cheers,

Andy

Hello,

Does removing the HBV vacuum pipe, and blocking it, prevent cold air to the cabin?

I know doing this should provide constant hot water through the heater matrix, but would this prevent you getting cold air into the cabin even if you selected 'cold' on the dials?

Cheers,

Andy ???

Omega General Help / Water in Rear Near Side footwell?
« on: 16 May 2012, 21:44:46 »
Hi,

I have water in the rear near side footwell.

It has accumulated beneath the front passenger seat around the outward seat fixing to the floor.

It is not in the front footwell nor does it extend back to the rear seat.

Could it be coming from the air vent situated beneath the seat?

If so - how does it get in there??  Is it blown through there, or, does motion move it from some other place?

Any ideas? :-\

Thanks

Andy
