Hi, I've got a '94 2.5 V6 Omega, complete with an occasional lumpy tick-over

I intend fitting the 1.6/1.8 EGR blanking plate, and a new gasket (have checked it is the right size), and wondered if
(a) I can unplug and remove the EGR assembly complete, or
(b) Refit the EGR assembly, without altering the solid blanking plate, or
(c) Drill a hole in the solid blanking plate to enable the valve in the EGR assembly to physically move (so as to provide feedback to the ECU).
I've checked the Common Issues/FAQ,s and Maintenance Guides and cannot find the answer - if I've missed it, then I apologise.
Many thanks in advance for any advice offered.
