Thanks all ..... I have had a look at arm bushes and trailing left seems rather soft and a bit bulging at the bottom . Also a significant groan noise when braking has stopped now I have sprayed it with silicone spray ( which I did to identify if it was the culprit)
Are single bushes normally replaced or is a new complete arm the best option?
This is a surprise if correct diagnosis as mileage is only a few k a year.

Pretty sure still original.   I have had tracking done, they said it was 'out' and corrected it.

2003 Omega estate 2.2
Hi all. I initially had problems with the car pulling slightly left on braking , garage diagnosed a sticking caliper. ...L&R calipers and pads replaced. discs are quite new, swinging arms replaced a year ago . New tyres just fitted. pulling to the left is better but its still weird feeling when braking gently, and sometimes a slight pull ; could be either way. it been in to garage and all joints tested on shaker plates . Nothing suspect found.
Any ideas what check I ought to do next ....

Ok this is a strange one .......

As part of a building project a heavy steel beam need to be supported at one end while it is pulled into position .  impossible to give all the details. but

What are your thoughts on my old estate having a flat board on the roof bars that are mounted on the rails to spread the load supporting in the region of 450kg. 

I know this is well outside any recommendation limits but at around 112kg per roof mount point ......... !!!!! would it dent the roof ??  how much would the suspension lower under the load etc.

Any thoughts on what this would 'do' to my estate welcome . any one extreme roof loaded their Mig before ??

Thread was pristine when the new pulley was put on, it now has some slight damage to the outer 2 threads as a result of the pulley coming off.  But by what 'mechanism can it possible come off against the thread when the alternator is free to spin ??

Hope  this is allowed as the question is about my wife's car, an Astra.    But i know some of you will be working on these regularly so hope you can help.    The free wheel pulley on the alternator was replaced yesterday as it was found to be completely free wheeling so it was not charging.  A new one was put on and it went on fine and tight with the ratchet. Ten miles driving later it came off . Thread on pulley is completely worn off and thread on shaft is just about OK .  My question is how could it come off against the direction of the thread ?? Alternator spins freely .  Any suggestions much appreciated. cheers

Mine behaves similar, didnt notice it too much in the summer, but in the winter it tends to just keep  heating up and up... . Not trying to hijack this thread but is there a sampling fan on the facelift that i can 'do ' the tissue paper test on ?

Thanks Phil I tried again and it does in fact unclick  quite easily from two retaining clips at the top . I found the unused wiring for electric rear seat heating which makes an easy place to connect to when an ignition live is requied. The gig lighter in the back was on ignition live in my previous Omega but in this one they have changed it to permanent live . .......... Now on ignition live . Job  done

Thanks Phil. That sounds promising.  So I assume you are saying that even though your car didn't have heated rear seats ( like mine )  the connector is still there for the switch. .......... Where do I  look for the connector. cheers

I have just had the air-con ondenser unit replaced as it was leaking, with obvious consequences! I had also  asked for a full system check and the guy said that there is also a problem with the 2 sensors that determine the cabin temp that relates to the individual left and right controls. He could determine that one of them was faulty as there was a discrepancy of about 6 Deg c between them . Without further testing he wasn't sure which one was at fault. To replace these he said was about £60 per sensor and about  £180 labour as a lot of the dash has to be removed .  I decided to  just have the condenser done to get things working again and leave the sensors as it will still work but is a bit weird trying to set temp.  Any comments as to how difficult a job it would be for me to replace these sensors and their cost ??
