Omega General Help / Re: Coolant Leak Issue.
« on: 19 July 2010, 13:06:45 »
I thought exactly that too, but if i am right in thinking is the water pump not at the side of the engine (As that is where the inlet an outlet appear to be), or is it at the front?

Around what appear to be the inlet, and outlet pipes there was no sign of any leaking at all, it all appears to becoming from the vertical gasket seal at the front of the engine. As I don't know the layout of this angine, could that be the waterpump gasket seal (i.e. the water pump is at the front)?

Omega General Help / Coolant Leak Issue.
« on: 18 July 2010, 22:26:48 »
I wonder if anyone would be able to help with an issue that has appeared on my 2001 dTi saloon.

When I got back from work last night, I noticed that where my car is parked at home there was a black mark on the tarmac under where the engine would be. It was 3am, so I parked in a different position and put it on the Sunday job list! :P

When I went out and had a look, I could see nothing obvious. However after a quick warm up drive I found that coolant was leaking from the front of the engine. I jacked the car up to have a good look, and this is where the leak seemed to be coming from: (Photo shows it after cleaning)

Whilst it was jacked up, I was unable to reproduce the leak but once I had dropped the car down a quick spin round the block had it dripping again. :'(

Any ideas what is causing the leak?

Thanks in advance.

My problem is them not coming on sometimes as detailed in the original post. Its really strange. It is not as if there is a faulty glow plug as the light just does not come on sometimes and others it does!!

Not sure if or when they were replaced. The car has done 155,000.

Omega General Help / Omega 2.2 DTI heater plugs
« on: 18 April 2010, 15:22:08 »
Hi. Can anyone explain why on my 2.2 Dti the cold start heater plugs come on when you first go to start the car from cold and the engine fires up OK. If you stop it before it is warmed up and go to restart it the heater plug light does not light up and the car needs to be wound over considerably to start. Obviously on the 2nd attempt the heater plugs are not working. Go back to the car after it has been standing for a while they work OK. Is there some sort of timer that is causing this???? Any help would as always be appreciated. Ian

Thanks for everyone's help. Filter now changed but we did have to tow it to get it going!! Thanks. Ian

Thanks Omegatoy. Am I right in thinking that you remove the whole filter and housing complete from the mounting cradle once the plug and pipes have been disconnected and then change the element on the bench?  VX advise fitting special tools to the pipes and using another special tool to pull fuel through etc. I assume from what you have said is that you can do the job without by filling the filter bowl before re-fitting it. Am I right???? . Thanks Ian

Are there any special procedures to be followed for bleeding the fuel system on my 2.2 HDI following a fuel filter change. The hand book suggests there is a 'complicated procedure' if you run out of diesel. Does this apply to a filter change and if so is it a DIY job or are special tools reqd? Thanks Ian.

Omega General Help / Sum plug stripped thread
« on: 27 March 2010, 17:37:17 »
I have just gone to change the oil and the sump plug was loose!! I have dropped the oil but the plug will not tighten in the sump. The thread on the plug does not look too great but not bad enough to stop it tightening. I think?? Obviously I will get a new plug from VX on Monday but not convinced it will be secure enough. Has anyone a solution to repairing the sump thread, Helecoil etc or can it be tapped out a size up etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ian

Still struggling with this one. I have bought a 3 button fob off ebay but it does not work. On stripping my fob it is a Megamos T-AM 433.93 and the one I bought was a Dephi. In the frequently asked questions section where 3 button keys are covered it says that any car with a factory fitted alam will have the Kiekert fab. My CD has an alarm fitted but the original key, that works is the Megamos. I am confused. I am struggling to get a second hand one that works. VX want £80 for a remote with alarm!!!!  Also I am told that you can self program the remote by turning on the ignition and pressing the button. Is this correct? Thanks
