Looks like the mystery of the airbag warning light has been solved. Whilst cleaning the car I noticed that the drivers side seat airbag cover was glued on, and inside the airbag has been cut away.

Are they easy to replace? there are a couple on ebay from newer model Omegas (mine is a '98) are they the same for all models?

Cheers

Thanks, horn should be easy to fix then. I am in Hungerford, not too far from Hampshire so will look at getting Airbag warning sorted soon.

Thanks Again

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Airbag Wanring and Horn not working
« on: 24 February 2010, 22:10:50 »
Hey All.

Just got myself a 98 V6 CDX Saloon, I have 2 obvious electrical faults,

Firstly the Airbag warning light stays on.
Secondly the Horn does not work.

Can anyone advise where I start looking to fix these faults. I am quite handy at electrics but it helps to know where to start!

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Cheers  [smiley=beer.gif]

Where abouts can I find the controller?

I read elsewhere that you can reset the climate control by pressing auto and off together. I tried that last night and the fan came on, also worked first thing this morning. Maybe its a coincidence but seems to have done the trick. Fingers crossed.  :)

Hi All.

My heater/AC fan does not work for about 5 to 10 mins when the car is cold ie first thing in the morning. After driving for a while it works and continues to work if I switch off then come back to the car. but if left overnight or all day without starting I get the problem. I have tried changing the temp and pressing all the buttons, but it refused to work until it wants to. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
This is on my 98 V6 CDX Saloon.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust Blowing, Poss from the manifold?
« on: 14 December 2010, 13:24:54 »
Thanks Abiton, I managed to find that topic now, unfortunately its not that pipe.
Just spent a while listening to the engine and I am now not sure where its coming from, could be there rear/top of engine.

Omega General Help / Exhaust Blowing, Poss from the manifold?
« on: 14 December 2010, 09:48:09 »
Hi All

I have a noisy exhaust and smell of exhaust fumes in the engine bay. Cant see any obvious holes in the exhaust at the front so I suspect its from the manifold or something. Haynes manual says I have to strip down the top of the engine to get to it, not a nice job outside in this weather as I suspect it will take some time!
Is there an 'easier' way to check or is there somewhere else I should look first? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks Guys.

I had seen the post about temp fluctuations but just wanted to check its OK for it it go that high, was sat waiting for the Mrs outside a shop the other night for about 20 mins. Watching the needle go up and down. Never went much above the mark after 95 and alway came down again. Main reason for asking is that the temp needle on my Discovery never ever moves once warmed up so am not used to seeing that!!

Battery seems fine, does not seem to struggle to turn over but it wont fire. I will check the battery tough.

Now I have to try and find a paperclip......

Thanks again.

Omega General Help / Struggling to Start and Engine Temperature
« on: 05 March 2010, 07:18:20 »
Hi Everyone

Had the Omega a week now, still happy with it but a few problems to solve.

Firstly it struggles to start in the morning, or when cold. Worse this morning due to the frost. It fires up eventually and runs great but I had to turn it over for quite a while to get it going. Any ideas?

Secondly the other evening I noticed the temp gauge goes up to the next mark after 95 - sometimes a little over it. After a while the fans cut in and it goes down again. Is it normal for it to go this high? or should I start looking at temp sensors/fan switch, or something else?

Cheers

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi Everyone!!!
« on: 24 February 2010, 22:00:50 »
Just picked up my Omega this evening. Its a 98 CDX Saloon. Very happy with it despite a couple of problems.

I have owned Land Rover Discoverys for the last 6 years or so, so the Omega is a totally different experience! Very pleased to find this forum as I found the Discovery Owners one invaluable when I got one of those.

Look out for some stupid questions on how I can rectify the few problems I have with the Omega.

Cheers!!
