Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: headlight wiring for hid's

Not yet mate, ever since I got them, the weather here has been against me!  >:(  Since I'm playing with electrics, I'm waiting for some dry weather since I have no cover to work under but as soon as I'm done I'll post it up, might even attempt a 'how to' if I'm feeling brave?  :D

:-[ >:( right, due to the poxy weather, I've still to do this, another quick question if I may?

What is the best way to connect the wiring together?  Chock blocks, scotch block or bullet connectors :-? or is there another, better way?

Please note, I am rubbish with a soldering iron and am more likely to end up with multiple iron burns and molten solder on me!  :-[ :y

edit,  another thing, would it be best to actually cut the yellow wire on the loom and leave it disconnected to the main headlight plug or to 't' into it?

sorry to ask so many questions, just want to make sure I do this once and right!  ;)

as simple as that eh Mark?   I remember from the original post you said the same thing, plus to change over the adjusters, thanks mate and consider myself slapped for not remembering what you originally said cheers  ;D :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / headlight wiring for hid's

Hi all, as some of you may have read in another post http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1215456180/0
I now have the wiring from the 98 model the lights came from.  The plugs that fit into the ballast box have yellow and brown wires and what I need to know is how I wire this into my 95 lights?  I'm assuming that I can just take the feed from the original loom and slice into it but, as always, a little help is requested  :)  thanks in advance, Mark :y

Right, easy really mate!  If you have the control box under the 'drivers seat'  ;) ;)  route the aerial lead through under the armrest/centre console then up under the dash to the head unit.  I'm assuming your using the standard Omega headunit?  my headunit has its own aux input so absolutely no degradation in signal, that said, I did try the fm modulator and it works really well imho, just make sure you set the frequency well away from strong fm signals as then you 'may' get some interference.  Hope this helps mate?  :y

Cracking bit of kit this Harmon/Kardon unit, I've got the b&w old version, luckily I have an aux in on my Blaupunkt headunit and didn't have to use the aerial bits.  Quality is well worth it.  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Speaker Sizes
« on: 21 September 2007, 20:39:00 »
I am surprised no-one has replied??  However, I do know the answer ;) The front door speakers are either 16.5 or 17 BUT you will need an adaptor, it is the same as the mk1 corsa if I remember rightly.  Got mine from ebay but most decent car audio places sell them @ £10 a pair.
As for the back, no holes in the parcel shelf?  Speakers are in the rear doors aren't they?  Well, they are on the estate anyway and I've not been able to find an adaptor for these other than genuine VXL replacements  :(  Hope this helps mate? ;)

in the boot door if you take the carpet panel off the boot you will see there are two round indents in it just work out were the spaces would be for the 6x9s bud  :y

pretty much what I'd do if I didn't have a removeable Pioneer sub in the back  ::)

Might be worth driving them with a decent amp rather than through the headunit though!

Since you have the same model as me, you'll lose the radio display only.  The swap is very straightforward tbh, only thing you may like to do is swap over the 2 positive (red) leads as vauxhall in their infinate wisdom differed slightly from the iso standard.  By swapping these over, you'll be able to turn on the radio without the ignition on.  Hope this is useful?  :y

I literally threw the standard headunit away the moment I got the car and installed a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB52, hanging out of the back of that I have a Blaupunkt Compact Drive unit with either a 1gb or 4gb microdrive in AND I have an aux 3.5mm input lead for my ipod if that wasn't enough....not forgetting that it also plays mp3 cd's too.... ;D

That said, used to have a minidisc, bloody good sound quality on them, just hated the sony software that you had to use.. >:(

totally agree with Laidback, standard speakers are very good but really needs a separate sub.  I had to replace the front ones due to some slight excess  ;D  and using adaptors now have some nice Pioneers in the front.  Change the front by all means if your going to drive them from an amp but if your going to drive from the headunit, standard are fine.
