Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT 700 Dead!
« on: 07 March 2007, 20:27:35 »
A few days ago my battery mysteriously discharged itself- I got a jump start and it now seems to be charging fine (I'm pretty sure I hadn't left anything on). Since this I can get no sign of life from my CCRT 700 radio/phone unit. I have unlock codes for both the head unit and the CD changer but as it seems to be totally dead I can't get to the stage of entering codes. Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Re: Oily smell!

I've had both gaskets on a V6 replaced, smoke coming from under the bonnet a bit alarming! - local garage was about £120. I asked them to check the breathers after reading the forum here and all were clear. First side replaced has now done 20k miles with no reoccurence

Omega General Help / Re: Airbag warning light
« on: 18 April 2009, 20:48:02 »
Problem solved by a local garage who did the MOT. He said it was most likely to be a connection on the seat belt pre-tensioners which can work loose with moving the seat back and forward - sure enough he was right - job done! :)

Omega General Help / Airbag warning light
« on: 14 December 2008, 12:25:34 »
Cruising along the motorway yesterday and the airbag warning kight on the dash suddenly came on. It is now pemanently on. Anyone know what this means? Could the airbag deploy? Would it in an accident? Any suggestions for a fix?

General Car Chat / Re: What to replace the Omega with??
« on: 29 June 2010, 20:17:45 »
my Omega finally died - choice of replacement? Saab 9-5 2.3t estate...reasons?
1. same reason I bought the Omega, they depreciate like crazy..a 56 plate with 32k on the clock £8600, and that was from a Saab dealer - list price new was a shade under 32k!!
2. It's another big estate with reasonable performance

Verdict after a couple of months...interior is better put together than the Omega, handling is much better despite front wheel drive (it's the Vector Sport model with the "sports chassis"), acceleration - worse than the 2.5 V6 Omega at low revs but better at high revs...guess that's the turbo. It's a bit thirstier on the short runs but then it's an auto and my Omega was manual.
If you were after a real Omega beater then the HOT Aero would do the job, I didn't fancy the insurance or fuel bills and I wasn't convinced that the fwd would cope with all the horsepower.

and as a final bonus they too have a good online owners forum!
