Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Motor? wouldn't stop
« on: 03 August 2010, 00:43:27 »
Ignition barrel, hmnn!

I don't think that's the fault on mine, just because as soon as I disconnected and reconnected the battery it all worked fine again. Not to mention the 5-6 times I tried the ignition while the motor was running  ;D

It was was a worrying situation though, admittedly my first thought at the time was fuel pump, mainly because I've been having problems with that on my Pug 406 but it was *very* noisy!

Hi All,

Saturday afternoon, I had an interesting problem with the Miggy.

I tried to start it and there was just a clunk from under the bonnet and then what sounded like a motor started running very fast and wouldn't switch off even after removing the key. I put the key back in and tried to start, the speed of the motor dropped slightly but the engine wouldn't turn over and the motor still wouldn't stop!

After pulling some of the larger fuses which didn't help, I switched on the ignition and disconnected the battery which (obviously) killed whatever was running. After reconnecting the battery the car started and ran fine!

Having now typed this, the thought that occurs is a fault with the starter motor or relay as this should spin up before engaging the engine? Has anyone seen this before?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Seat Swap
« on: 07 July 2010, 10:10:07 »
Even without the airbags, they're still safer than the seat that came out. I've lost two pairs of trousers and a chunk of flesh to that one!

Fair enough, I was hoping it would be an easy swap, airbags for pre-tensioners. As the side airbags were an option anyway, I don't see them as essential. Having memory seats for my wife who is about 18" shorter than me is worth it!

The CD TD is a mini facelift so I should be able to get the heaters working for winter, I assume the heaters cables are the pair that's left over.  :)

Once I've sorted all the connections, is there anyone in the East Midlands (or Wales) areas with a Tech2 who's willing to check codes and possibly reset?

Hi All,

With the kind help of The Baron and his friend I now have electric leather seats in place of the ones that kept ripping holes in my trousers!

Couple of questions, firstly, the old seats had airbags, these have seatbelt pre-tensioners. I'm scared of both! Are the connections a straight swap and will the pre-tensioners report correctly to the airbag system? If not, is it possible to fool the car into thinking the airbag is there. I don't want to find someone with a Tech2 to reset the airbag light if it's only going to come back on again!

Can anyone tell me what the cables in this picture are for? This is the loom from the car. The red & brown are power and I've wired these to the new seats motors but I'm not sure what all the others do, which are the heated seat pads etc?

Finally, I have this loom under the rear seats, is this where the loom for the heated rear seats would normally connect? I also have a red cable in this loom that appears burned and the insulation has bubbled up. Where else does this loom go?

Cheers all!

That's a shame, never mind!

Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm heading up to Burton this afternoon to get a new set of leather seats and interior for my 2.5TD (Thanks Baron!  :y).

I have a couple of questions regarding what else is worth taking, it'll give me an idea of how much extra cash to take with me!

I'm particularly interested if the cruise control stalk from an Elite will fit the diesel? Also, if I was to retrofit the Xenons, do I need the levelling sensors, willl they retrofit onto my TD and where are they?

Finally, and this is a long shot, can the climate panel be retrofitted? I'm thinking not but it's worth asking!

I'm not even sure if he has all the parts, I'm really just after the interior but if any of the other bits fit I may be making offers!  ;)

Cheers Rob,

The only blank you have in that picture is the one I've got filled!  ;D

It does lead me to another question though, you have a TC button fitted and I don't. Does this mean I don't have traction control or that it's not switchable?

The manuals are out of stock  :( but if it is custom wiring it won't help much anyway!

Damn, that was quick!

I assumed the far left/right were the seats and there is definately no blind.

The second left switch does light up when pressed, just don't know what it's connected to! Will have to fiddle with it some more.  ;D

Thanks!

Hi all,

I've recently bought my Miggy as you can probably see in the 'Welcome' thread! I have a series of questions but this is the first;

Is there a PDF of the original manual around for the pre-facelift/mini-facelift cars?

Can anyone tell me what the buttons in the dash should do? I have two heated seat symbols in the far two left hand positions with another one on the far right? I would post pictures but it's dark and raining now!

Thanks,

Danny.

Omega General Help / Heating
« on: 08 January 2011, 14:32:21 »
Hi All,

I have an ongoing problem with heat (or lack of it!)

The car is taking a long time to warm up, while in traffic it will slowly warm until the gauge is just below the 90 mark, once moving it will drop down to the stop again. Possibly related, the passenger side will blow warm air but the drivers side won't. It will vary between freezing cold and luke warm whereas the passenger side will blow warm air. When the air is aimed at the demist it is coming out warm on one side and cold on the other.

This is on a 2.5TD mini f/l, it DOESN'T have climate, just the four rotary dials.

I've put in a new thermostat! (Although the old one moved correctly when placed in hot water so seemed to be OK)

I've dismantled the centre console, from the back of the drivers heater dial there is a flexible push rod that operated a flap at the bottom of the centre console, this appears to be working fine, has the same range of movement as the passenger side.

Finally, the viscous fan has been removed but the engine never warms up enough to need the electrics.

I'm running out of ideas now, about to try a matrix flush but not sure how/if this will help? Does anyone know how the air is routed through the matrix to keep the two heating zones seperate?

Any more ideas please, whilst I did enjoy the drive down to Mid Wales after Elite Pete put my new wishbones on (thanks again Pete!) I did arrive with very cold toes  :(

Cheers, have got today off work for my birthday so will have another bash at this shortly. There is a pipe between the EGR pipe and the stat housing that makes access difficult, I can't get a socket on there.

Another quick question, I would search the forums but I'm on the mobile and its hard work, what is the capacity of the cooling system? I'm out and about and will buy some antifreeze on the way home  :)
