I don't suppose anyone can recommend a garage in the Warrington kind of area who'll actually do this for me then. Really don't know why this garage insist it won't fit.
Hi guys just a quick question, (bit late to be asking to be fair) but I ordered a 2.0 exhaust from neucarparts on ebay after reading a few good reviews on here about them.
It arrived and to be honest I couldn't be bothered with hassle of trying to fit it myself so dropped it off at a local garage, they just called me to say there is no way the exhaust will fit? Is this right? I was under the impression the 2.0 exhaust fitted fine on the 2.2?
Hi guys, due to my brothers flats very small underground garage and my own lack of patience while trying to manoveour I caught the rear offside door on the corner of a brick wall that has left several gouges about 3-4 inches long in the paintwork. they're through all the paint and down to the metal.
As much as I love my omega, the idea is to run the car while spending as little on it as possible (regular mechanical maintenace aside)
So my question is whats my best option for stopping the door from rusting? I'm not too fused how the car looks, just want to keep the metal sound. I've doused the area in ACF50 for time being.
Will post some pics up tomorrow as well if that helps.
Quick update guys, dremel with cut off wheel (x16 to allow for breakages/wearing down) followed by a quick few taps with a chisel cracked the nuts off. Slow going though. After that was a simple twenty minute a side job. Thanks for the tips and suggestions.
Well will head off to machinemart tomorrow and grab a hacksaw and cold chisel. Pretty sure the money I've saved in Mechanics fees I've spent on tools in the last 8 months. But I love tools so its all good
Quick question, it won't do any harm for me to chisel/hacksaw off the nut off prior to jacking up the car right?
Its damn awkward getting at the nut once the car is up in the air.
Off the two my NS one still has the two flat bits, tried a locking adjustable on that and it just slipped, the OS looks like someone has tried in the past with molegrips as it's all chewed up. Tried the adjustable on that but had even less luck that.
As I say it looks like someone has tried in the past and given up :/
I just seem to be having no luck with my mig recently. As these got an advisory on the MOT and the guide looked simple enough figured I'd replace my rear shocks.
All went well except when I came to undo the top nuts. When the last shocks were fitted someone has used some kind of threadlock on the nut. Tried holding the top section while trying to undo it but it just spins. I bought a nut splitter but because of the way the metal washer under the nut fits, it won't split the nut.
Had put the axle stands just in from the rear jacking points on the sills on what looked like part of the subframe. Don't think they were fouling the trailing arms as they dropped quite noticeably when I unbolted the shocks.
Am I missing anything obvious here?
Jacked up car and supported on axle stands. Freed up the ABS sensor wiring and the brake flexis. Undo both of the shocks (21mm) and pop them out of the mounting holes. Undo the 13mm nut and bolt holding the anti roll bar mount. Place jack under the diff and undo the 4 bolts (15mm) for the rear hanger.
At this point I was expecting the Diff to drop but it didn't.
Have mailed Pete and he can fit me next week. Have the day off tomorrow so going to give it another shot myself though I think.
Is there anyone in the northwest (near Warrington) who fancys earning a few extra quid doing this for me?
Just spent the last 4-5 hours attempting it myself and am now tired and frustrated. Followed the guide from here but when I got to the bit were the diff is meant to drop, it just didn't :/
Car needs to NS Coil for its MOT, so have bought a pair as I'm told its best to change suspension items in pairs.
